Today we’re celebrating students everywhere — especially the incredible Shenandoah University students in Dr. Bragdon’s Clinical Helping Skills class!

Through this partnership, SU students learn compassionate listening and crisis support skills, then put those lessons into action by volunteering on our hotline — offering hope and help to people in need across our community. 💛

What an amazing community alliance! We’re so grateful for these future helpers and the difference they’re already making.

Today, we honor our nation’s veterans — and remember that Concern Hotline’s very beginnings are deeply connected to their stories.

Concern Hotline was founded in 1968, right here in Wi******er, after community members grew alarmed by the area’s high su***de rate — the highest in Virginia, and more than double the East Coast average. Many of those lost were returning Vietnam War veterans, struggling without access to mental health services or support.

Out of that tragedy came action. A small group of caring people created Concern Hotline to be a lifeline — a place for anyone in crisis to find understanding, hope, and help.

More than fifty years later, our mission remains the same. On this Veterans Day, we remember those who served, those we’ve lost, and the power of a community that continues to listen. 💙
