This week, Highpoint Health – Wi******er/Sewanee with Ascension Saint Thomas CEO Adam Martin joined fellow healthcare leaders in Nashville for the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Day on the Hill.

During the event, he met with Senator Janice Bowling to talk about important healthcare issues affecting Franklin County and rural communities across the state.

Conversations focused on topics such as Certificate of Need policies and the Rural Hospital Transformational Fund - both vital to maintaining and improving access to care in rural Tennessee. Supporting local hospitals and ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to care for their communities continues to be a top priority.

Participating in Day on the Hill provides an opportunity to advocate for rural healthcare and highlight the ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, close-to-home care for the communities we serve.

Think you might have the flu? Here’s what to do to take care of yourself and protect others:

- Stay home and rest. Avoid work, school or public places. Rest helps your body fight the infection and prevents it from spreading to others.

- Monitor your symptoms. Keep track of severity, duration and any changes in symptoms like fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, headache, runny or stuffy nose.

- Hydrate and manage symptoms. Drink plenty of water or herbal tea. Over-the-counter medications can help with symptoms. Avoid alcohol and smoking.

- Seek medical care if needed. Call your healthcare provider if you experience trouble breathing, chest pain, severe weakness, confusion, persistent high fever or worsening symptoms, especially if you are pregnant, older or have chronic conditions. Early treatment can help reduce complications.

- Protect your community. Cover coughs and sneezes, wash your hands frequently and stay home until you’ve been fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

Following months of negotiations, we are pleased to share Highpoint Health - Wi******er/Sewanee has reached a new three-year agreement with Cigna Healthcare.

With this agreement, our hospital, medical group and employed providers will again be in network with Cigna commercial plans effective February 15, 2026. Until that time, we remain out of network.

At Highpoint Health, we believe that our patients and community members deserve access to high quality care close to home, and we are glad this new agreement allows us to continue providing services for Cigna’s beneficiaries and advancing our mission of making communities healthier.

❤️ Cardiac Rehab Week ❤️
It takes a team with heart to care for one.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a specialized program designed for individuals with cardiovascular disease - and we are proud to offer an AACVPR-certified program dedicated to helping our patients recover, rebuild strength, and reduce their risk for future heart problems.

Our cardiac rehab team supports patients through education and exercise therapy, providing:
• A state-of-the-art facility and equipment
• Professionally certified staff
• A supervised exercise program
• Continuous EKG monitoring
• Nutrition consultation with a registered dietitian
• Educational materials focused on heart disease risk reduction

During Cardiac Rehab Week, we celebrate our incredible team and the patients who trust us with their heart health every day. ❤️

If you or a loved one could benefit from cardiac rehabilitation, talk to your provider to learn more.
