I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. License #0701008348
I take anthem, humana and peak insurance

My philosohphy entails meeting the client where they are in life. I do this through implementing effective psychotherapy methods, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy as well as a few others to aid client in gaining self-understanding of who they are and what they need. Then, I encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. Therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from both client and therapist. You will learn that by making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results

About my practice

Hello, thank you for reaching out and visiting my page! My name is Cathy Patterson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. Here is some information about me and the kind of work I do. My ideal client is someone with whom I can build a rapport. I enjoy working with people of all ages- from children to seniors. I am well versed in troubles with anxiety and depression, as well as coping with grief or trauma. I have also worked with families of those who have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorder. In the past, I volunteered with Blue Ridge Hospice and Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging (SAAA). I feel this gives me an insight into the world of depression one feels with aging, illness as well as death itself. I would love to help you find a better way of coping with the daily events that life tends to throw at us. Give me a call and let’s talk.
