This week we are celebrating Long-Term Care Administrator Week by recognizing our Personal Care Administrator, Kelly Steen. πŸ‘βœ¨

Kelly has been an LPN for 47 years, and her very first job was right here at Windber Woods. After gaining many years of experience and learning opportunities in her field, she returned about 6Β½ years ago as Nurse Manager in Personal Care and later earned her Personal Care Administrator License.

Kelly is the proud mother of four children and four grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys playing BINGO, going to concerts, catching a few extra winks of sleep , and of course β€” she has never met a cheetah print she didn’t like!

We are grateful for Kelly’s leadership and dedication to our residents and staff. 🏑🀎

This week we are celebrating Long-Term Care Administrators Week by spotlighting our Administrator, Danielle Smorto-Dukery. πŸ’βœ¨

Danielle joined Windber Woods in 2018 as the Assistant Director of Nursing after working in a LTAC setting and stepped into the Administrator role in 2020. She began her career in nursing as a Med Tech and continued advancing through the field as a CNA, LPN, RN, and ultimately a Nursing Home Administrator.

Her dedication to caring for others and passion for making a difference in the lives of residents is at the heart of her leadership. Danielle is proud to work alongside the dedicated team at Windber Woods who help create a supportive and compassionate community each day. 🀝

✨ Social Worker Spotlight – Heather Cotchen ✨

In honor of Social Workers Month, we’re proud to recognize Heather Cotchen, who has served as the Social Worker at Windber Woods for the past two years.

Heather earned her degree in Health and Policy Administration from Penn State and later obtained her certification in gerontology. Her passion for working with the elderly was inspired by her grandmother, whose impact helped guide her toward this meaningful career.

Heather shares that the most rewarding part of her job is being able to help residents β€” whether supporting them through a transition home or simply easing their worries and offering reassurance. 🏑🀎

Outside of work, Heather is a proud mom of two boys and enjoys cheering them on at their wrestling matches and spending time with her family.
