Well...yeah, I am. When I think of the word doctor i think of someone who i take seriously. I think of someone who has dedicated a major part of their life to a specific subject or practice. I think of someone who takes a scientific and analytical look at what they're passionate about and strives to do better and be better. I think of someone who is a realist but an optimist. Someone who is honest about what he does and doesn't sell snake oil. Someone who’s opinion I can trust. Someone who has ethics that started from wanting better for their industry.
Ive been watching this industry (detailing) even though I’ve fallen in and out through the years. I have family who has stayed in the industry since 2006 as a hobby. they've updated me and kept me in the loop through their years of trial and error and YouTube. I would re-enter the detailing because id have a job that was what i really wanted to do. I was always drawn back detailing. Detailing in the northeast can be a finicky thing. Years ago every dealership would have a recon dept and you would have exceptional quality because you had people who cared. Nowadays...its strictly about money. You had independent shops here and there but they rarely hired or they were “seasonal.” Its been a tumultuous ride. I strayed away but i always had a dream, a dream to have my own shop that was run the way i saw fit. the American dream? maybe. It was mine though. it always has been the light in the dark. I had never realized that it was considered... a passion.
Get to the point “doctor”
I was cooking for a great restaurant when i got the calling. again. it was out of nowhere. a friend called and said they were looking for someone. i said “thank you for thinking of me but im in a great place.” then they called a few months later. this time i said “why not. ill stop in.” Took the job in a body shop. This is where i really got my “PhD.” I was lucky enough to work with some great people that expanded my knowledge. I had the passion and the skills of a detailer but this is the point in my career that proved i was meant to become, Dr. Detail.
