🧠 Did you know the CDC removed crawling as a developmental milestone?
Their reasoning?
👉 Some kids don’t crawl.
And sure—we hear that from patients all the time.
But here’s what we also know 👇
Ask any pediatric bodyworker (chiropractor, PT, OT, etc.) and we’ll all say the same thing:
We’ll gladly sweep the feet of our kids to get them crawling (not literally 😜).
Why? Because crawling:
✔️ Builds balance & coordination
✔️ Develops the cross-crawl pattern of the brain
✔️ Supports communication between the left & right hemispheres
Here’s the kicker 👀
When someone experiences a TBI or concussion, one of the first rehab steps is…
👉 Crawling patterns.
That’s how foundational this movement is.
If crawling matters enough for brain injury recovery, it matters for early development too 💙
