➡️I have been using the Levels app and Freestyle Libre continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for the past 3 weeks to learn more about how my blood sugar levels affect my energy, mood, headaches, hot flashes and skin health
➡️Poor blood sugar control is associated with insulin resistance, development of type 2 diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and poor metabolic health
🧡What I have learned so far:
➡️DON’T EAT SUGAR BY ITSELF! And by sugar I mean refined sugar of course but also anything that turns into sugar in your bloodstream like: fruit and grains
➡️FOOD COMBINING IS KEY! What you eat with your carbohydrates is just as important as the source when it comes to blood sugar levels. Combining a carb with protein, fiber and fat will lessen the glucose spike after a meal
🧡This simple, no-bake dessert contains a perfect ratio of healthy fat from coconuts, fiber and sweetness from dates, 90% dark chocolate, and protein from nuts
🧡We don’t normally eat dessert every day, but for the sake of experimentation, my husband and I have enjoyed a slice of this rich and delicious Chocolate Torte several times over the past weeks and I am happy to report that it is a “level” and balanced treat!
