Yesterday was a VERY LONG day at the CA Capitol for the joint hearings on HR-1 and finally Prop 56 (we made our impact statements just moments before 10 PM)!
Every Item of discussion involved the multiple ways the vulnerable, poor, or disenfranchised would be losing healthcare access and support - from care homes for those with disabilities, hospice care, to dental.
For the FOURTH largest GLOBAL economy, this State is balancing its budget on its "huddled masses". As far as children's oral health- we already come in 3rd to last in the entire US - before cuts to providers, which will have them leave denti - cal care programs.
We need to be better than this.
Address your representatives, because while you may not utilize medi-cal benefits, you will be impacted if the facilities, such as hospitals close due to funding reductions, or close departments, ERs and Urgent cares fill up, substituting for care one can no longer get at the dentist or primary care. Healthcare deserts or ER waiting lines don't discriminate & will impact you or someone you care about. Speak up in time for the proposed budget revise in May.
The access you might end up saving beyond that of the voiceless, is your own.
