NOVEMBER BOOK SPOTLIGHT 📚 ❤: Healing Your Holiday Grief: 100 Practical Ideas for Blending Mourning and Celebration During the Holiday Season by Alan D. Wolfelt

The book is designed specifically for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one and face the holiday season (and other meaningful celebrations) with grief present. The holidays often amplify emotional pain because while society emphasizes joy, togetherness and celebration, those who’ve lost someone may feel an “empty chair” or a sense of “not quite belonging”. The book name explicitly acknowledges the tension with mourning and celebration and is intended to help you understand and grief, make choices about how to handle traditions, gathering and alone time, introduce practical ideas and exercises and help blend mourning with celebration.

What are you thankful for?

After reading The Thankful Book, the kids helped us fill our “basket of gratitude,” with things they’re most thankful for. Big things, small things, and everything in between.

The completed basket now hangs in our center as a beautiful reminder that gratitude can grow even in hard seasons. 🍂✨

A little bit of warmth and reflection to carry with us as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. 🧡

We know that grief can bring out all kinds of emotions like sadness, confusion, frustration, even anger. Thanks to our "Volcano Room" we can let those big feelings out in healthy, constructive ways. Our kids can punch the bag, throw soft balls, jump, yell, and move their bodies all while being supported by caring adults who understand that every emotion deserves a safe place to be felt and expressed.
