Frances Harp Johnson went to her heavenly reward on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1935, to Riley and Dena Harp of Brilliant, AL. Frances lived a life of service and generosity to all who knew her. She served as Treasurer of Mount Pisgah Methodist Church for 40 years. She began her working life in garment plants and retired after several years at Gateway Foods in Brilliant where she was known for bringing biscuits and cakes for all the employees. After retirement she devoted herself to cooking meals for the sick and shut ins in her church and community. At one time she cooked for 15 households each week. Cooking was her love language, and she was well known for her fried pies and chicken and dumplings. In the last month of her life her children realized that along with supporting her local church she also contributed to at least 9 charities on a monthly basis. She didn’t preach to her family about giving, she set an example for them to follow. Frances yearned for the day when she would leave this earth for her heavenly home. She deeply missed those she loved who had gone on before, her husband, Claude, her mother and dad, her siblings, Ray, Mary, Jimmie, Nola, Harold, and Glenda, and her grandsons, Trent and Brent Canterberry, Wesley Johnson, and Colby Duckworth. Left to carry on her work on this earth are; her daughter Joan Canterberry (Ed), sons, Jimmy Johnson (Teresa), Paul/Pete Johnson (Susan), and Pat Ballard (Danita), grandchildren; Stacy Garrison, Jacob Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Tosha Lann, Pete Lovett, and Kristyana Lines, Honorary grandson, Adam Duckworth (Tish), great grandchildren, Braxton and Braden Canterberry, Annie and Joseph Garrison, Elijah Johnson (Anna), Cohen Johnson, Seth Spiller, and Logan Lann, honorary great grandchildren, Kason and John Pool, and one great-great grandson, Asher Canterberry.

Larry Glenn McGee, 83, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 2, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1942, in Gordo, Alabama, to John Wesley McGee and Marie McGee Boyd. After losing his father at a young age, Larry was lovingly guided by his stepfather, Woodrow Boyd. He was the youngest of five children growing up in Echola, Alabama.
Larry graduated from Gordo High School at just 16 years old, already showing the determination and strong work ethic that would carry him through life. He excelled in both baseball and football and went on to attend the University of Alabama, earning a degree in Business and beginning a lifelong love for Alabama athletics.
After college, Larry served proudly as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army National Guard from 1964 to 1974. He later settled in Winfield, Alabama, where he began his nearly 30 year career with Alabama Power Company. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication and integrity. Not long after he moved to Winfield, he met the love of his life, Vicky Moss McGee. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and lasting friendships.
Larry was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an especially proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Vicky; his son, Larry Scott McGee (Keely); his daughter, Melanie McGee Williamson (Clark); and his five beloved grandchildren, Moss McGee, John Clark Williamson IV, Laura McGee, Whit Williamson, and Noland Williamson. He is also survived by his sisters, JoAnn McGee Burkhalter and Shelby McGee Moss. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Wiley McGee; and his sister, Eleanor McGee Ellison.
Larry was known for being able to build or fix just about anything — and if something was broken, he would find a way to fix it (sometimes in his own way!). He believed in hard work and led by example.
In retirement, Larry and Vicky enjoyed traveling with dear friends, attending Alabama sporting events, and spending as much time as possible with their growing family. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his grandchildren — working in the garden, sitting in a deer stand, or fishing on a quiet riverbank — passing down his love for the outdoors and simply enjoying being together.
Eight years ago, Larry suffered a stroke that brought many challenges, but he faced each day with strength, patience, and a positive spirit. The family is especially grateful to the physicians, nurses, and caregivers — especially Brandi Watkins, Ashley Smith, and John Evans — whose kindness and friendship meant so much over the years.
Larry loved deeply, worked hard, and lived his faith every day. His steady presence and generous heart will be missed more than words can say. Still, there is comfort in knowing he is healed and at peace at home with his Heavenly Father.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, March 5th at 12:00 noon from the Winfield First Methodist Church. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon service time at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Winfield First Methodist Church or Wyatt’s Rides.
