Due to the possibility of a storm the veterans have decided to take the flags down at 5:00 p.m. right now.

Good - no, great news - the veterans have decided to put up the flags Saturday morning. Anyone wanting to help can show up around 7:30. If you feel uncomfortable about coming then wait until next year. This is a tradition that isn't going away!

It is with great disappointment I must let the community know that American Legion Post #643 will not be placing flags at the Winfield Scott Cemetery or holding their Memorial Service this year. In addition the American Legion Auxiliary #643 will not be serving a post Memorial service luncheon.
The Post will conduct graveside services Memorial Day May 25.

I'm sure everyone living in the Midwest will understand that it has been very difficult to keep the cemetery grass mowed this spring. Please also remember that the cemetery is very wet and muddy so be careful driving and walking if you choose to decorate. I have not heard anything regarding putting up flags.
