With the new semester starting, Kendra Hofler, a WUSOP alumnus, is sharing her story and how she ended up on her current path!

Hello friends! My name is Kendra Gemmill Hofler and I am a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at the Salisbury VA Medical Center where I currently focus on ambulatory care management within the Veteran population. My day-to-day work consists of optimizing pharmacotherapy for chronic disease states, providing patient education to support safe medication use, projects, and tasks for my teaching certificate with High Point University.

My path to residency started during pharmacy school, where I explored different rotations, got involved in organizations, research, and leadership and sought mentorship early on. Attending Midyear, preparing my CV, and staying open to feedback were key steps that helped me successfully match. The biggest piece of advice I’d give P4s is to go with your gut when choosing the path you want to take after pharmacy school, ask lots of questions, build relationships, and pursue opportunities that genuinely interest you.

Alumni Spotlight: Nathan Roberts, PharmD WUSOP ’18, CVS District Leader, RX

We are proud to recognize Nathan Roberts for a recent and notable professional achievement. Nathan was appointed by Governor Josh Stein to serve on the North Carolina Commission for Public Health, the state’s public health rulemaking body. His four-year appointment positions him as the only licensed pharmacist currently serving on the Commission.

This role brings a unique perspective at the intersection of pharmacy, public health, and regulatory policy.

Congratulations to Nathan on this well-deserved appointment, and thank you for continuing to support and inspire the next generation of pharmacy professionals!

✨ P4 Spotlight! ✨

Margaret Booth is a P4 student who has completed a highly academic variety of rotations during her fourth year ranging from infectious diseases to emergency medicine!

Margo has worked for the Walmart Pharmacy located in Concord, NC for the past three years. She was recently offered a job as a staff pharmacist with Walmart post graduation! She hopes to continue to serve her patients with wellness days (providing education about vaccinations but going above and beyond for her patients by providing disease state education on various topics including heart disease, diabetes, birth control, and OTC products!)

Congratulations, Margo! 📣
