Memory Care Ministry (MCM) recently hosted a special breakfast to thank our donors and the three churches whose members piloted the program this past year.
MCM is a faith-based, 6-week program created to support caregivers of individuals with dementia by offering education, resources, and guidance for the physical, social, mental, and spiritual dimensions of caregiving.
Developed in partnership with Atrium Health, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Union County Council on Aging, and the Wingate University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, MCM reflects the power of collaboration.
Wingate University continues to make a meaningful impact in our community. In 2026, its programs in Physical Therapy, Social Work, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling will further expand that impact through new respite care services, virtual and in-person support groups, and access to the Counseling Clinic.
The physical therapy department would like to give a special shout out to our very own Dr. Debbie Prouty, MPT, EdD, GCS, pictured on the far left below. Dr. Prouty is an associate professor at Wingate University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program and was a key member of the team that developed this program and is leading the creation of the upcoming respite care initiative.
Thank you, Dr. Prouty and all the collaborators, for bringing care and compassion to such a worthy cause.
