Community paramedicine is an innovative approach to healthcare, especially in rural areas where access can be limited. It brings services like primary care support and health education directly into patientsโ€™ homes, helping fill critical gaps in care.

Many of the people we serve are older adults living with chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart failure, or COPD. Some have recently returned home after a hospital or emergency room visit and need extra support.

As a part of HGHEMS, our paramedicine staff have special training in community paramedicine in addition to their EMS licenses and certifications.

Are you interested in receiving community paramedicine services? Talk to your primary care provider to find out if this service is right for you.

You can learn more about our services by calling 775.623.5222, ext. 1687.

The Nevada Traffic Safety Summit is organized by the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety. The primary goal of the summit is to gather safety partners, including professionals from engineering, enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), and education, to share best practices and strategies for enhancing traffic safety across the state. The overarching aim is to achieve Zero Fatalities on Nevada roadways, emphasizing that every life matters.

This year Judge Mike Montero gave an important speech about car safety. Our EMS team taught different CPS techs around the state about counterfeit car seats, as well as winning two car seats of their own. It was a great opportunity for EMS to expand not only their knowledge but the knowledge of others around them!

EMS was invited to Grass Valley Elementary School
They had a great time talking with students about winter safety and Halloween safety!

Ken brought out the big Rescue Truck, and the kids were so excited to check it out up close. They asked lots of great questions about what our Rescue team does and how we help keep the community safe.

It was a fun, hands-on way to teach kids about staying safe. There was also a presentation about staying warm during the colder months. As well as how to stay safe during trick-or-treating. Thank you to Grass Valley School for inviting EMS we loved spending time with your students!

๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ’™ Our HGH EMS crew - Gricelda, Angel, and โ€œLucyโ€ (our trusty car seat doll) - visited Sonoma Heights Elementary School to chat with the kids about staying safe on the move!

They covered pedestrian, bike, and scooter safety, showing why helmets and smart habits around traffic matter. The kids got hands-on tips and left with safety skills they can use every day.

Today marks another year since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. A day which changed our nation forever. As we remember the thousands of innocent lives lost, we also pause to pay tribute to the heroes who responded without hesitation. Especially the EMTs paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and all first responders who answered the call and ran into unimaginable danger to save others.

Their bravery went far beyond the call of duty. These were not just emergency workers but mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors who chose to act with courage when the world needed them most.

To every EMT, paramedic, and emergency responder who served on 9/11 and in its aftermath, thank you. Your courage, sacrifice, and compassion are etched into the heart of our nation.

Though time moves forward, we will never forget. Not the lives lost. Not the heroes we lost. And not the bravery that was shown in the face of unspeakable tragedy.

Classes have been moving along for our young EMT class. Each day they learn more about providing high quality health and safety education. Sharpening their skills and preparing themselves for their future.

In a skill and team building exercise, the group learned how to properly operate a stair chair. Some students were taking their turn in the chair while the others help them down the steps of the EMS building.

Stair chairs serve the purpose of assisting with the transportation of patients up and down the stairs, thereby reducing -as far as possible- the chances of accidents and helping make the patient more comfortable. By reducing the risk of falls, EMS is able to care more for the patient.

Great job to all of the students. These early lessons the high school class is learning helps build the foundation for confident, capable care in the field's future. EMS is proud of these students and cannot wait to see what they do next!
