The beginning of the new year encourages us all to have new goals and new beginnings. That being said, many of my patients who are trying to lose weight, balance their hormones, improve their bone density, and/or simply improve their overall health —- ask me how to improve their diet.
Our diets are deeply rooted in our culture, likes/dislikes, food availability, and cooking comfort level. It can be difficult in a short clinic visit to completely cover all of these bases to make a menu that fits eat individual.
What I have found to be extremely beneficial, is to use AI to generate a menu. For example, if I use the prompt "What is a 5 day menu that consists of common foods and will give me 120 grams of protein each day, if I use one protein supplement a day that has 20 grams of protein in it." this is what is generated for day 1:
Day 1
Breakfast
2 large eggs – 12 g
1 slice whole-grain toast with 2 tbsp peanut butter – 8 g
Total: 20 g
Lunch
Grilled chicken breast, 5 oz – 35 g
Brown rice, 1 cup – 5 g
Total: 40 g
Snack
Greek yogurt (plain or flavored), ¾ cup – 15 g
Dinner
Baked salmon, 4 oz – 25 g
Steamed vegetables – 3 g
Protein from food: ~103 g
With supplement: ~123 g
