Can you believe September is almost over? This month flew by with so much happening—celebrating birthdays, enjoying walks, watching local parades, making it through a power outage, singing and dancing the afternoon away at our Casino Day Party, visiting a pumpkin patch, and even meeting the Eastside Boyz!

As Direct Support Professional Week comes to an end, we would like to extend one more thanks to all for the hard work they do each day. We would also like to take this opportunity to recognize three outstanding individuals who go above and beyond every day. Each year we look for two DSP’s who are Simply the Best and one DSP who is a Rising Star at CCI. Paul Dansman, Kurt Bowers, and Heather Russell have been nominated by their coworkers for always keeping the Mission of Community Connections in the forefront of what they do, for always being willing to help, and for going above and beyond every day. These three individuals have been with us a short time, and ironically enough, this is the first time any of them have worked in this field. They have all taken to it well and do a wonderful job promoting independence for individuals in everything they do. We appreciate everything they do and want to congratulate them on a job well done!

This week, Sept 7-13, is National Direct Support Professional (DSP) week. It is a time to publicly thank DSPs and celebrate DSPs for their critical, hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their role helps individuals live as independently and fully as possible within their own community. Without them, many people would not have the opportunity to live, independent, and meaningful lives. At Community Connections, we have 33 of the best DSPs working here. Thank you all for your commitment in supporting real people to make real choices and to live real lives!!
