We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended and supported our Black Balloon Day event. Your presence helped make the day both meaningful and impactful.

It was truly powerful to see our community come together to honor the lives lost to overdose, support those who continue to struggle, and raise awareness about the importance of compassion, prevention, and recovery.

During the event, black balloons were tied to chairs as a symbol of remembrance and reflection, honoring each life lost to overdose and the lasting impact on families, friends, and our community.

A special thank you to the Fairfield Opioid Response Team (FORT) for attending and supporting our event. Your dedication and partnership help make these important community gatherings possible.

We are grateful to stand alongside such a caring and supportive community. Together, we will continue to remember, educate, and advocate for those affected by substance use.

Black Balloon Day Reminder:
As Black Balloon Day approaches, we are reminded of the importance of hope, healing, and community support. Every effort, whether offering resources, sharing information, or standing with those affected contributes to a stronger, healthier community.

Support and Recovery Matter:
Substance use impacts individuals, families, and communities, but recovery is possible with the right support. Fairfield Behavioral Health Services provides counseling, support groups, and referrals to treatment to help individuals and families navigate their recovery journeys.
Through these services, we aim to reduce stigma, provide hope, and strengthen the health and resilience of our community. By offering guidance and support, we can help ensure that no one faces substance use challenges alone.

The Role of Prevention in Our Community:

Prevention is a vital part of reducing the impact of substance use on individuals, families, and communities. By providing education, resources, and support, we help individuals make informed choices, develop essential life skills, and build healthier, safe futures.

At Fairfield Behavioral Health Services, our prevention initiatives include Life Skills programs, medication take-back events, and community speaking engagements. These services not only provide education and resources but also foster awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen community resilience.
By participating in prevention efforts, we can work together to create a healthier and more informed community.

How did Black Balloon Day Begin?

Black Balloon Day started as a way for a family to honor a loved one lost to an overdose. Diane and Lauren Hurley created the day in memory of Greg Tremblay, a father of four, who was Diane’s son-in-law and Lauren’s brother-in-law. Greg tragically passed away from an overdose at age 38 on March 6, 2015.

The black balloon has become a symbol of remembrance, allowing families, friends, and communities to honor loved ones lost to overdose, raise awareness, and show support for those impacted by substance use.

Since the beginning, Black Balloon Day has grown into a national observance held each March. It serves both as a moment to remember lives lost and as a reminder of the ongoing importance of prevention, education, treatment, and recovery support.

At Fairfield Behavioral Health Services, we recognize Black Balloon Day as an important opportunity to reflect, support our community, and continue our work to prevent substance use and promote recovery.

As an agency committed to prevention and recovery support, we recognize the importance of coming together in remembrance and awareness.
