Mississippi Valley State University proudly recognizes Dr. Shanell G. Bailey, instructor in the Department of English and Foreign Languages, as the 2026 Humanities Teacher of the Year.

As part of this recognition, Dr. Bailey will present a Humanities lecture titled:
📚 “Bridging the Literacy Gap with Effective Teaching Strategies for Today’s College Students.” On Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Business Education Building inside the Cliff E. Williams Auditorium.

'PLEASE BE IN PRAYER': Kolby Knight, a Prentiss County Sheriff's Department Investigator, was taken to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Monday in Prentiss County, Mississippi.

Authorities said medical staff are still assessing his injuries and are asking for prayers.
