Today we celebrate the lives of our member, Ms. Barbara Jones and Civil Rights Activist, John Perkins.

While our choir is split celebrating these two lives today, our hearts and fond memories are united.

Ms. Barbara Jones was an original and founding member of our choir, and one of the most dedicated and sacrificial members.

Sometimes we would arrive back in Jackson from a tour date at 2:00AM and Barbara would still have a 3 hour drive home (Byhalia, MS); sometimes alone.

She was a consummate team member who put others before herself, who never complained.

She truly loved and supported the choir in every way. Her dedication and tireless work will serve as a beacon of light in her absence to encourage us to keep going.

Mr. John Perkins was simply a giant of a man, whose work we will forever stand on. He was a constant reminder of God’s word that he didn’t give us the spirit of fear. Thank you Mr. Perkins for fighting for the privileges that we now enjoy. You will forever be in our hearts.
