Individually and collectively, the Robeson Family Vision Center staff are dedicated to creating a welcoming, respectful, and skillfully delivered eye health care experience that reflects the Vision Source Gold Standard. We are deeply grateful for every member of our team - past and present - who has helped make that experience possible.

In this 1983 photo, Lane joined his father, Dr. Glen Robeson, on his annual eye-health rounds at several Indigenous community clinics across their home state of South Dakota. Glenn remained Lane's most trusted (though long-distance) consultant until his passing in 1996 at the age of 65.

Grateful for the years they had together and reminded how short life can be, Lane chose to protect his own work-life balance and moved the practice to the family farmstead.

Who remembers when an eye exam at RFVC came with a dozen (or two!) farm-fresh eggs to take home for free?🤣🐣

As we celebrate 40 years of serving our community, Robeson Family Vision Center wants to say thank you in a meaningful way. We're giving back by collecting both items and monetary donations for the Winona Volunteer Services Food Shelf - and we will match all donations up to $4000!

Did you know every $1 you donate allows the food shelf to purchase several dollars worth of food through the central food bank? Your contribution goes even further, and with our match, it has double the impact!

In December 1985, Dr. Robeson was in the same shoes as many health-profession graduates today—plenty of knowledge to share, and plenty of student loan debt to carry. When he learned that an optometry practice in Winona was for sale following the sudden passing of the beloved Dr. Ed Hooge, he visited the community and immediately felt it was the right fit.

But bank loans weren’t an option.

That’s when Dr. Hooge’s widow, Mary Lou, made a remarkable decision. Confident that Dr. Robeson would honor the legacy she and Ed had built—high-quality eye care delivered with warmth, respect, and integrity—she chose to personally finance the purchase over five years.

Amid raising young children and navigating life without Ed, Mary Lou extended an extraordinary gesture of trust: in Dr. Robeson, in the staff and patients, and in the Winona community.

At RFVC, we reflect on her generosity often. We work every day to be worthy of her example.

We at Robeson Family Vision Center are not only thankful for our glasses, we are thankful for all of our patients. We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We will be closed Thursday the 27th and Friday the 28th. We will reopen again on Monday December 1st at 8:30am.
