November is Epilepsy Awareness Month, an important time to boost awareness, educate the public, and advocate for increased funding and research on epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a brain disorder that triggers recurring, unprovoked seizures. It can result from various factors such as stroke, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, or infections of the central nervous system. The CDC estimates that approximately 3.4 million people in the US live with epilepsy, and about 456,000 of this number are children.

Aveanna is proud to support many individuals with epilepsy. We honor the strength and resilience of those impacted and stress the need for accessible environments and the removal of stigmas associated with this condition. Today is World Diabetes Day, a chance for us to educate our communities on diabetes and support those living with it.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that occurs when the body cannot use insulin properly to regulate blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body produces little to no insulin because the immune system attacks the cells that produce it. Type 2 diabetes, the most common type, occurs when the body produces insulin, but the cells do not respond well to it.

This year's focus for World Diabetes Day is "Diabetes and the Workplace," an effort to eliminate stigmas and discrimination in the workplace for those living with diabetes. To learn more about World Diabetes Day and how you can show your support, visit https://pulse.ly/duooutvz7k.

Medicaid-funded home care and home medical equipment make it possible for 7-year-old Gabby to live and thrive safely at home.

Gabby has complex medical needs that require 24/7 skilled care. Her mother relies on home nursing support to continue working as a schoolteacher. Home medical equipment, including Gabby’s wheelchair and the equipment and supplies that support her tracheostomy and gastrostomy tubes, allow her to breathe safely, receive nutrition, and stay active in her community.

Medicaid-funded home care keeps families together and makes independence possible.

Recent cuts to our state’s Medicaid funding threaten access to life saving services for patients across North Carolina. That funding can and must be restored by our state legislators and administration.

This month and every month, we celebrate the diversity of these cultures and pay tribute to their lasting footprint on American society.

Medicaid-funded home care services and home medical equipment have helped 9-year-old Kyler heal, grow, and attend school safely.

Due to circumstances at a young age, Kyler faced significant challenges with his health and development. Through home nursing, therapy, and home medical equipment, he has made incredible progress, gaining strength, coordination, and confidence. His home care nurse plays a vital role in ensuring his medical needs are met safely each day, allowing him to continue learning and thriving alongside his peers.

Medicaid-funded home care makes stories like Kyler’s possible.

Recent cuts to our state’s Medicaid funding threaten access to life saving services for patients like Kyler across North Carolina. That funding can and must be restored by our state legislators and administration.

For 9-year-old Raylin, Medicaid-funded home care services make it possible for him to live safely at home with his family and attend school with his peers.

Born prematurely at 27 weeks, Raylin relies on a tracheostomy tube to maintain his airway and a gastrostomy tube to meet his nutritional needs. Earlier this year, Raylin’s tracheostomy tube unexpectedly came out, and his skilled nurse’s quick action and access to emergency equipment saved his life.

Jennifer Combs, Area Vice President, Clinical Operations, had the opportunity to meet with North Carolina Governor Josh Stein to discuss the importance of reversing the recent Medicaid rate cuts and fully funding Medicaid. Families across North Carolina depend on home-based care to keep their medically complex loved ones safely at home - sustainable Medicaid funding makes that possible. Thank you, Governor Stein, for taking the time to hear directly from those serving our communities.

As we celebrate Home Care and Hospice Month this November, we recognize the incredible value of home-based care. Today, home care is more important than ever—providing patients with the dignity, comfort, and independence they deserve while delivering exceptional outcomes.

In Home Health, personalized care helps our geriatric patients regain their cherished independence. For pediatric patients, it means living and thriving surrounded by family instead of receiving life-sustaining care in a facility. In Hospice, our teams bring peace and comfort to families during life’s most challenging moments.

At Aveanna, our commitment to outcomes, innovation, and clinical quality remains unwavering. Our compassionate care makes a difference every day across the country—going door to door, to the homes of our patients, wherever home may be.

As we recognize Home Care and Hospice Month, we proudly celebrate our clinicians and employees who make an incredible difference in the lives of families and patients.
