Did you know April is Stress Management Month? Brookridge residents have found many stress relieving hobbies with support from Wellness Director Dana Reynolds and Functional Pathways Rehab.

Some things that lower stress include wellness classes, aromatherapy, walking the dog, enjoying nature, knitting with the Knit Wits Group, reading with Brookridge Bookies, playing games and spending time together.

Our Brookridge gardening club celebrated Earth Day yesterday by planting flowers around our Independent Living entrance. These resident volunteers work hard to keep this area teeming with life, so that the entrance can look beautiful and inviting.

One of our team members in was recently recognized for her dedication and excellence, and the award couldn't have gone to a more deserving person: our receptionist Tammy Collins. Help us congratulate her!

We are continuing our journey across the state to member communities celebrating the individuals whose excellence and dedication shape the everyday experience of residents and families.

We are proud to recognize Tammy Collins of Brookridge Life Plan Community (a ThriveMore community in Winston-Salem, NC), recipient of a 2026 Service Excellence Award.

This year, we are expanding how we celebrate. While some honorees will be recognized at our Annual Conference, we are also visiting member communities, bringing many of these awards directly to the places where the work happens every day. Because recognition hits differently when it’s shared with the colleagues, residents, and teams who experience that impact firsthand.

Tammy began her career in dining, where her attentiveness and genuine care quickly set her apart. That same resident-first approach carries through in her current role managing the reception desk, one of the busiest and most emotionally complex spaces in the community.

It’s work that requires adaptability, emotional intelligence, and calm under pressure. Tammy meets each moment with empathy and professionalism, supporting residents and families through both celebrations and times of uncertainty. Her presence brings reassurance, stability, and trust, hallmarks of person-centered service.

Join us in showing our appreciate to Moir Brim, our team member spotlight for April!

Brim has worked on the maintenance team for the past eight years. Although he's retired in the past, he couldn't stay away from Brookridge! It's not only the rewarding work but the wonderful community of people that has kept him here.

In his free time, Brim loves to play golf and enjoy some hard-earned rest. He takes pride in working hard, but also believes in balancing that effort with taking care of himself.

Brim’s appreciation for others, along with his team-first mindset, makes him an invaluable part of Brookridge. His presence brings warmth, reliability, and a true sense of family to those around him.

EverTogether construction update: we've gone vertical! 👷

Walls are being erected for this first-of-its-kind home that will allow residents with dementia and their care partners to stay together while getting the expert support that they need.

Framing has begun at the clubhouse and some of the cottages, and masonry block walls were erected for the clubhouse. And outside finishes were selected this week by the Brookridge and ThriveMore team

Construction is set to be completed at Brookridge early next year. We're thrilled to be able to offer a new type of home for couples to continue living together when one partner needs memory care support.

Some of our residents took a trip to the coast this week to share about their positive experiences living at a ThriveMore community. They helped set the scene and answered questions for people interested in joining ThriveMore’s newest community being built in New Bern, Brice Pointe.

Yesterday residents had the opportunity to learn more about what's going on within the wider ThriveMore community as well as ask questions of our leadership board.

We were joined by ThriveMore President and CEO Reed VanderSlik, Board of Trustees representative Clarence Lambe and Executive Director Tatum Myers, who met with residents to answer questions and provide clarity around board duties, governance and operational practices.

It was an engaging afternoon with meaningful dialogue with Independent Living residents in attendance. Special thanks to our Resident Council for cultivating meaningful and insightful questions to spark informative conversation.

The conversation was open, transparent, and centered on ensuring residents feel informed and heard. Periodic meetings like this are required by our regulators, but clear communication and avenues for feedback are part of ThriveMore's ongoing culture.

Thank you to our residents and leadership for their participation and commitment to continued communication and trust.
