Giving Tuesday is right around the corner and your kindness helps build brighter futures for the children who inspire us. On December 2nd, we'll have various ways to get plugged into our mission, not just monetarily!

Make sure to mark your calendars and help us to create long, meaningful impact to those we serve.✨

Yesterday's classroom looked a little different! 🛒✨

Our students took a trip to Food Lion to practice finding items in the store, making choices, and checking out. Special shout-out and big thanks to our friends at Food Lion, who always go above and beyond to make us feel welcome!

Real-world skills, real smiles, and so much pride in every step. 💙

One of our students today was showing off their impressive juggling skills, and you all may not see it, but the smile behind the camera was just as big as his! 💙

The moment... has... come!!! Feeling like you want to support the Neurodiverse community but don’t know where to start? Are you a provider who wants a FREE 1.0 CEU? Well! Our Roundtable on “Systemic Barriers to Assent-Based Care Part 1: Availability” embraces representation of Neurodiverse communities.

We truly care about advocation followed by education. ABSNAP believes in using our platform to demonstrate our multi-faceted set of ideas and overall agreement on ethical and supportive care. From here, we have been inspired to discuss potential barriers to assent-based care and will commit to a series showcasing this topic. Not only do we want to embrace these communities, but our Core members are part of this community, and we are motivated to bring those experiences with us to our Roundtables.

Your presence or awareness of this post is more than appreciated; it is elevating Autistic and other Neurodiverse voices. We hope to see you there!

💙Meet our Counselors!💙

We're excited that we don't just have one amazingly talented counselor at ABC of NC, we actually have three! You all were able to meet Jasmine last week, but today we're excited to reintroduce you to Hannah!✨

Hannah Prevatt (MS, Ed. S, LCMHC, NCC) has been a counselor at ABC of NC since February 2022. Having earned her Master’s in counseling at UNCG, she spent several years at the Tim and Carolynn Rice Center for Child and Adolescent Health, where her passion for supporting families grew. With empathy, support and understanding, she collaborates with clients and their families in a way that best suits that family.

She is passionate about counseling’s emphasis on wellness and loves applying that at ABC of NC. She approaches each relationship with genuine curiosity as to who the client is, what their needs are and what can be done to best serve that client.

At home, Hannah loves spending time with her husband Michael, their daughter Claire, and their dog Obi. She also enjoys watching anime and baking shows, as well as rock climbing both indoor and outdoor.

ABSNAP: Aligning Behavioral Services with Neuro-Affirming Philosophies

A huzzah to the release of ABSNAP’s latest educational Newsletter! “From Reflection to Reform: A Person-Centered Approach to Transforming ABA” was our last Roundtable topic! It brought insights from autistic lived experiences and self-advocates. We are continuously grateful for those who attend, show interest, or support platforms that aid in the awareness of Neurodiverse communities.

Every journey has its challenges—but no one has to walk it alone. 💙

ABC of NC offers counseling services to support children and families as they navigate the joys and struggles of life. We have a few counselors we'd love to introduce you to, the first being Jasmine Lambeth! ✨

Jasmine obtained her undergraduate in 2016, at Appalachian State University in Psychology and obtained her Master’s in Science in Counselor Education in 2023, specializing in Clinical Mental Health at East Carolina University. She's worked at ABC of NC Child Development Center for 7 years as an RBT, Registered Behavior Technician, working 1:1 and in classroom settings with the clients. For two years Jasmine has been a counselor at ABC of NC.

Her current modalities of therapy are person-centered and C.B.T or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She believes that the client is the expert in their lives and we as the counselors are there to listen and direct their path when needed. When she's not in the office she likes to spend time with her husband, Daniel, daughter, Lucy and dog, Oliver. In her free time she enjoys reading, being outdoors, watching true crime, and doing puzzles.
