Arbor Acres is proud to support Senior Services' 16th Annual Art Show & Sale as a Delivery Sponsor for Meals on Wheels!

Huge thanks to our resident artists — Steven Dunn, Carl Hein, Karl Stauber, Bill Parsley, and Mona Wu — for donating their incredible work. We even caught Bill in the Intergenerational Center's ceramics studio mid‑creation just hours before the show's opening, throwing clay on the wheel with his signature energy and passion.

So grateful to be part of an effort that brings hot, nutritious meals, connection, and care to older adults in our community.

Local artist Melrose Tapscott Buchanan is now featured in our Galleria with her exhibit The Power of the Sketchbook, on display for the next two months.

Her work draws on childhood memories of Gulfport, MS and the influence of Thoreau, Wordsworth, and Rumi, creating “visual diaries” that celebrate the natural world.

Thank you, Melrose, for sharing the beauty of your artistry with our community!

We are delighted that our resident Angela Pittman was recently interviewed by Chad Tucker, FOX8 News, highlighting Angela's extraordinary life of global travel and photography.

Angela has visited more than 100 countries, documenting her encounters through compelling portraits and detailed daily notes that preserve the stories behind each image.

Her recent exhibit at Arbor Acres, “Around the World in 80 Faces,” reflects her belief that the heart of every place is found in its people.

Thanks, Chad, for sharing Angela's remarkable story! Watch Chad's interview by clicking the image below.

We are continually inspired by our residents who share their talents, creativity, and vision to make our community more engaging and more meaningful. Their leadership enriches daily life here—and yesterday, they shined especially bright!

Readers' Theater, one of our resident‑led performing groups, presented “Comedy Tonight!”—an afternoon of five witty, charming, and delightfully funny short scenes featuring the works of Noël Coward, Oscar Wilde, Neil Simon, and Bruce Kane.

From sharp British humor to timeless comedic banter, our residents brought each scene to life with heart, humor, and incredible stage presence to the delight of a full house!

Congratulations Readers' Theater actors for a terrific performance!

Special thanks to Dr. Brook Davis, WFU Professor of Acting, for her invaluable consultation and support.

We're keeping the celebration of American Heart Health Month going with a fun and flavorful Lunch and Learn! Executive Chef Jolie Shafer teamed up with Shawn Amerault, Corporate Chef and representative for HeartBrand Ranch, to introduce residents to the world of Akaushi beef—and of course, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch afterward.

Akaushi beef, originally from Japan, is known not just for its incredible flavor, but also for being one of the healthiest protein options out there. Its unique fat composition and nutrient profile make it naturally heart‑healthy, and the American Heart Association notes it may even help lower cholesterol.

Pretty amazing for something that tastes so good and aligns with our commitment to resident wellness! A win-win!

Today’s special Heart Meditation offered residents a peaceful opportunity to pause, breathe, and reconnect.

Led by Heidi Day, Fitness Coordinator, the guided session focused on relaxation, heart awareness, overall wellbeing, and sound healing—a meaningful moment of reflection during Heart Health Month.

We’re grateful for the many ways our community continues to embrace wellness and prioritize heart health throughout February.

Meet resident and world traveler Angela Pittman!

From a six-week European camping trip funded by $200 and a daily diet of canned soup for a year…to visiting all seven continents and 100+ countries, that included her kidnapping in Thailand, Angela’s adventures span 50 years of courage, curiosity, and joy.

She recently shared her incredible photo series, “Around the World in 80 Faces,” with residents--that include her mom, Kathryn--as well as the stories behind her travels, which are just as unforgettable.
