We all know that the holidays can bring stress. So much planning and prep. Loved ones we wish were here. It's also true that the holidays can bring peace and happiness. It can bring excitement with traditions and foods. Smells that trigger memories. Decorations that make us appreciate beauty.

Both of these things can be true at the same time. You can feel happiness and peace when it comes to the holidays right along those other feelings. We're allowed to feel it all.

The holidays can be filled with conflicting emotions. It's a wonderful time of year filled with tradition and nostalgia. It can also be a sad time of year after the diagnosis of yourself or a loved one, grief over the passing of someone you wish you could be with, and more. We encourage you to give space for all of those emotions. Just because you feel sadness over something doesn't mean you can't still find joy. And just because you're finding joy in the holiday doesn't mean you're not properly grieving. You can, and should, do both.
