We couldn't agree more with Mothers of Veteran Su***de 💚
The nervous system reset is our focus with Reset 2 Wellness. Are you ready? The dates for our grief retreat are 10/9/26-10/10/26!
The intersection of trauma and grief is where the event of a loss meets the emotion of the loss. While grief is the process of yearning for someone who is gone, trauma is the nervous system’s response to the distressing way they were lost 🕊️
When these two forces collide, the healing process often feels like an internal tug-of-war:
➡️The Survival Loop: Trauma often "blocks" grief. The mind stays stuck on the how—the circumstances and the "what ifs"—making it difficult to focus on the who and the actual work of mourning.
➡️The Safety Gap: Grief requires quiet reflection, but trauma keeps the body in a state of high alert. It is hard to be still with your memories when your body doesn’t feel safe.
➡️Shattered Worldview: Trauma can strip away your sense of security, making the task of building a "new normal" feel impossible while you are still reeling from the shock.
Before you can fully process the weight of grief, your nervous system needs to feel grounded. Try and focus on small ways to reclaim safety—through routine, gentle breathing, or trauma-informed support. Healing doesn't mean the loss disappears; it means untangling the terror from the love so you can hold the memories without the heart-pounding fear 💜
We see you. We care about you. Keep going.
