Today, on Veterans Day, we pause to honor those who have served—and to hold space for the families and loved ones who stand beside them.

For many, this day is one of pride. For others, it brings complex emotions: grief, gratitude, or memories that are hard to carry. Wherever you find yourself today, know that your feelings are valid. 💙

Take a moment to breathe, remember, and care for yourself—you deserve it. 🌿

🧘‍♀️✨ Grounded, connected, and restored. ✨🌿

This weekend’s Mental Health Counselors of Central Florida (MHCCF) Creative Connections event—Gentle Yoga & Parts Work for Therapists—was a truly grounding morning of movement, reflection, and community.

As Mental Health Counselors of Central Florida’s Social & Special Events Chair, I was honored to organize this event as part of our Creative Connections Series, which I created to bring mental health professionals together each month for wellness and connection in creative ways.

Our facilitator, Dr. Coralis Solomon, MHCCF’s Diversity Chair and founder of Compassionate Pathways, led us through a powerful morning of gentle yoga and internal parts exploration—helping us reconnect with balance, self-compassion, and presence.

A special thank-you to Samantha Toffoli with Monte Nido for sponsoring this event and providing delicious refreshments, and to our MHCCF community for showing up and holding space for one another. 💙

Halloween may be over, but the smiles still linger 🎃💜

Recently, we had the joy of attending Harbor House of Central Florida’s Trunk-or-Treat event—bringing costumes, candy, and care to children impacted by domestic violence.

From handing out treats to seeing their faces light up at every decorated trunk, the evening was filled with laughter, safety, and connection—the very things we believe every child deserves.

As a proud Young Professionals Board (YPB) member, our founder, Jessica Straughn, was honored to be part of this joyful, trauma-informed event.

Swipe through to see the fun, the creativity, and the community that made it all happen 💜

Thank you to everyone who donated, decorated, volunteered, and showed up.

💛 Earlier this month, we had the privilege of providing our decompression and resilience training to the dedicated team at Harbor House of Central Florida:

From Holding Space to Finding Space: Decompression Practices for High-Impact Caseloads

This trauma-informed workshop offered staff a space to pause, reflect, and replenish—while learning practical tools for navigating burnout, secondary trauma, and compassion fatigue.

Participants practiced grounding techniques, created personal resilience plans, and explored how system-level policies can help providers thrive, not just survive.

🌿 At Supportive Counseling, LLC, we’re committed to supporting those who support others.

📣 If your organization is responding to a critical incident, experiencing staff fatigue, or simply needs to refill its collective cup—we’d be honored to partner with you.

✨ Continuing our commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed care!

This past week, Supportive Counseling, LLC participated in an advanced training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), led by NET — The Institute, the developers of this powerful trauma intervention.

Through live demonstrations, supervised practice, and rich discussions with clinicians from around the world, we deepened our skills in helping survivors reclaim their stories and restore meaning after trauma.

At Supportive Counseling, we believe that healing begins when your story is heard, honored, and reconnected with your strength. 🌱
