How a Narcissistic Ex Uses Children

• Using Children as Messengers
They pass adult conflict through the children instead of communicating directly with you.

• Undermining the Other Parent
They make subtle or overt comments that damage the child’s trust or relationship with you.

• Playing the Victim Through the Child
They tell the child how hurt, lonely, or mistreated they are to gain sympathy or loyalty.

• Creating Loyalty Conflicts
The child feels they must choose sides or protect one parent from the other.

• Using Court and Contact as Leverage
Contact, arrangements, or flexibility are used as tools for control rather than for the child’s wellbeing.
