Stress resilience isn’t about eliminating stress. According to the American Institute of Stress, it’s about building your capacity to move through stress and return to balance— what researchers call “stress recovery.”

Resilience is a skill you can build, not a trait you either have or don’t have.

We are hardwired with a complex life-saving alert system, known as the stress response or fight or flight response. Every system of the body is involved during the process of a stress response!

The trigger for a stress response is a real or perceived threat. After experiencing trauma, it can become harder for the body to decipher the information coming in from our fast-paced, demanding, excessively noisy world and return to calm and a feeling of security and self-confidence.
