Being resilient is more than just surviving the storm; it is being empowered by the strength of surviving, the knowledge of self you gain and the courage and wisdom to love and trust yourself and others again.

Unlearning thought patterns and beliefs caused by childhood trauma and early domestic partner abuse were difficult. They sometimes still rear their ugly head.

I have had a lifetime of trauma and lifetime of building a system that allows me to recover quickly and recognize old thought patterns, triggers, and mindsets.

Nature is the perfect place to practice mindfulness, it happens so innately. Appreciating and actively being aware of what is around you, being still and present with it is so revitalizing and grounding.

When you mindfully listen to the birds, the breeze blowing gently through the trees, the stream trickling, or you smell the pine, balsam, or earthy forest soil, touch the rough texture of a Douglas Fir or the smooth bark of a Silver Birch, the cool of fresh mountain streams you actively regulate your parasympathetic nervous system.

You are calming, recovering, repairing, reserving. You can store this picture of serenity and create a pathway for your body to easily get back to this when triggered by stress and anxiety.

Practicing mindful communication, especially during stressful situations can be incredibly helpful to stop misunderstanding or escalation in relationships. The practice of mindful communication looks like this:

1. Take a breath and clear your mind of anticipation, preconceptions and wandering thoughts.

2. Be curious, nonjudgmental and welcoming to what the speaker has to say.

3. Maintain appropriate eye contact and welcoming, engaging body posture.

4. Focus on what is being said; listen intently and periodically validate the speaker verbally or nonverbally, paraphrase what the speaker said to ensure understanding.

5. Ask questions for clarity as needed rather than assuming, this builds trust and shows caring and compassion.

Pretty soon our pollinator friends will be floating around lush greenery and fresh blooms here in Maine. As the scenes change around us, utilize this grounding practice to regulate your nervous system:

Take a break outdoors and identify 5 things you see, 4 things you touch, 3 things you hear, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste.

Noticing your surroundings can help you center yourself and come back to your breath. I encourage you to get outside this Earth Day!

What does it mean to work with me, a Certified Health, Wellness & Nutrition Coach?

→ First, we’ll have a 30 minute discovery call to discuss your specific needs.

→ Once we find that we’re a good fit together, we’ll work on onboarding! I truly love the deeply personal aspect of this phase. Although In-take and initial assessments sound formal, for me as a coach, I witness the beginning step of transformation happen and clients often see the first glimmers of opportunity and hope in questions asked and answered knowing they are safe and heard in their vulnerability. The foundation is laid for the relationship, the process, and the coach & client responsibilities.

→ Every coaching experience I offer is built around you — your goals, your needs, your pace. There’s no one-size-fits-all path here. Each package gives you direct access to me: my expertise, my experience, and the resources I’ve gathered. What that means for you is focused support when you need it, growing clarity as you move forward, and the kind of accountability that actually feels like partnership rather than pressure. I currently offer three programs, each designed to meet clients at different stages and with different needs.

→ Throughout the client journey, we will assess and evaluate the progress being made to see what adjustments are needed to help the client reach her goal. After each assessment, the client will be able to move forward with clarity and actionable steps.
