Thomas Smedberg, MD, MS, is a Sports Medicine fellowship–trained orthopaedic surgeon at Wisconsin River Orthopaedics, caring for patients in Wisconsin Rapids and the surrounding communities for nearly 12 years. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Smedberg’s path to orthopaedics began in high school after a football injury required care from an orthopaedic surgeon. The exceptional treatment he received left a lasting impression and sparked his interest in a field that allows him to help people return to the activities they love.
He values truly listening to his patients, knowing that understanding their story is key to making an accurate diagnosis and creating an effective, individualized treatment plan. By working together with the patient, Dr. Smedberg strives to achieve the best possible outcomes—whether that means getting back to work, sports, or everyday life.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Smedberg enjoys following college football, participating in a variety of outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.
