The choices we make today have a significant impact on our futures. The good news? We have an opportunity to start new and make better choices each morning we wake up. Being mindful about what we put in and on our bodies matters. What we spend our time consuming from TV and social media matters. How we choose to move our bodies matters. Not quite sure where to start? Reach out. You don’t have to make all the changes in one day, but small changes over time add up to big results. Your future self is relying on you, make it count!
Make it a great week! 🤍 Dr. Sam

We all face adversity in some form at some point in our life. Those events in and of themselves do not shape us, rather how we respond to those stressful times that help build our character. This busy time of year, as joyful as it’s meant to be, is often very challenging and stressful. When those moments arise, I challenge you to stop and pause before acting to give yourself a chance at the best possible outcome.
Make it a great week! 🤍 Dr. Sam

Helloooooo December! We have arrived in month 12 of 12 for the year 2025. This month tends to be filled with hustle and bustle, but hopefully also with lots of love, light and joy. As we start the last month of the year, I encourage you to take a look back and see how far you've come these past 11 months. And also to see what goals you have left to meet. You still have 31 days to get it done-- do NOT take your foot off the gas when it comes to your goals and showing up for yourself. Do NOT say 'next year' because it's not over yet. Keep showing up for yourself these next 31 days, you won't regret it. Make it a great week! 🤍Dr. Sam

I don't know about you-- but this is one of my favorite weeks of the year. A short work week that starts with Thanksgiving and ends with shopping, football and the start of the Christmas season surrounded by loved ones. I understand this is not how everyone views it, but regardless of situation I do believe that the more we practice having gratitude, the more grateful our hearts become. Wishing you peace, light and love this week as we head into the holidays. Make it a great week! 🤍Dr. Sam

Don't let yourself run out of time searching for happiness. There will always be a reason to not be happy if you let yourself. Find little things that bring you joy to focus on, especially as we jump into the busiest time of year. Make it a great week! 🤍Dr. Sam

This is the time of year where life tends to get busy. Holiday parties, family gatherings, events at school, work events, year-end events, etc... When life gets busy the first thing to typically go is consistency. I encourage you to find ways to continue showing up for yourself during this busy time of year. You don't have to be perfect and your routine might not look the same. But staying consistent with a few simple things can make a huge difference as we roll into a new year. Prioritize movement- even if you can't hit the gym, make sure to take a walk or add some bodyweight movements/stretches into your day. Drink water- staying hydrated helps keep inflammation low and to keep us energized and focused amongst the chaos. Sleep- this is when our body restores and recovers, don't sacrifice here. The consistency you commit to now will pay dividends as we wrap up the year. Make it a great week! 🤍 Dr. Sam

We’ve entered month 11 of the year. And we’ve also entered what most of us deem as “holiday season.” We can all feel it— this time of year our calendars fill quickly with things we feel we have to do. Here’s your reminder to slow down, enjoy the little things, say yes to the people and things you love most and say no to everything else. May the air be crisp, the sunsets be beautiful and your boundaries be strong this November. Make it a great one 🍁🤍Dr. Sam

It is often said that chiropractic finds you, you do not find it. As I reflect on how life has played out over the last 5 years, I’ve found that to become true. My life as an avid runner is what led me to discover chiropractic in the first place. My biggest role model in my life is my mom, a bad a** runner who inspired me to follow in her footsteps (pun intended). After my own struggles with weight, I took to running and haven’t looked back. In 2010 I ran my first marathon with my mom by my side the entire time, earning myself a Boston Qualifier. Despite getting into Boston for 2011, I was injury plagued following the marathon. An IT band injury kept me sidelined until I could rehab enough to get back to running. In 2012 I was able to run my second full marathon and in 2013 my third. After my 2013 marathon, my IT band injury returned. I took some time away from running while I finished up my undergrad career at the University of Michigan. During this time I adopted various cross-training activities to maintain my fitness level and also spent a great deal of time in physical therapy and doing rehabilitation on my own. Nothing was quite getting me back to running pain free.
Upon graduation in May 2014 with a Movement Science degree, I was back to running some but continued to be plagued by injury. I moved home with my parents and was working as a secretary in the construction field while trying to figure out what my next steps were. Not being able to run as far or as fast as I wanted to was growing old. Finally, my dad suggested I go see his chiropractor. It was my last resort, as I’d tried just about everything to relieve the pain and get back to running like I knew I could. I remember calling to make an appointment and being told the doctor has a 6-week waiting list- the 22 year old version of myself was annoyed and couldn’t comprehend a 6-week wait (we Millenials are truly all about instant gratification and this situation was no exception). I remember getting a call from the office while at work one afternoon in August of 2014 asking me if I’d like to move my appointment up earlier as there had been a cancellation; I jumped at the opportunity and headed off to the chiropractor. I remember my first visit like it was yesterday.
I sat in the doctor’s office and she listened to my story, acknowledged my frustration with not being able to do what I loved. She took the time to examine and assess me, acknowledging how interconnected the body is and helped me understand how each of my symptoms related to each other and to the underlying dysfunction I was experiencing. After an explanation of what she had found and an explanation of how she could help, she began to treat. My initial treatment included what I now understand as dry needling, Active Release and an adjustment. I remember rolling over for a side-posture adjustment and looking up at her diploma that read “Doctor of Chiropractic.” In that moment, as the adjustment was delivered I decided to myself that I was going to be a chiropractor.
I went home after my first appointment initially feeling a little sore from the input, but the next day, I felt the most relief I had felt in months. I kept quiet about my decision to become a chiropractor. I spent time at work and at home researching what chiropractic was and where I could go to learn. After gathering the information, I told my parents and my fiancé that I had decided I was going to quit my job, move far away (there are no chiropractic schools in Michigan) and go to chiropractic school. Mind you, I was not a very adventurous person and had never lived further than 20 miles from home, so this came as a shock to everyone. Everyone was very supportive of my decision, my dad went down to St. Louis with me in November 2014 to visit Logan College of Chiropractic. In the hotel the night following my tour, his only question was “when are you going to start?” He knew I was in my element being on that campus and was excited for me to start this next chapter.
Lots happened between November 2014 and August 2015 as I preparred to move to St. Louis and start school. I drove myself down to school on August 28, 2015 and stepped out of my car into 100 degree weather with 90% humidity at 9 o’clock at night at an apartment I rented sight unseen and thought to myself ‘what did I do?’ I spent time exploring the area and running at the parks nearby until school started on September 8, 2015. After that White Coat Ceremony, the next 3.5 years seemed to fly by. I spent countless hours studying and got involved in as many extracurricular activities as I could. I continued running and working out, made some incredible life-long friends, gained new mentors, traveled all over the US for seminars and fell more in love with chiropractic each and every day. I can honestly say there was not one morning that I woke up and did not want to go to school- that is something I realize is special and I will always cherish. The journey came full circle on December 22, 2018. I graduated magna cm laude with my Doctor or Chiropractic and summa cm laude with my Masters in Sport Science & Rehabilitation. Walking on graduation day was the culmination of years of hardwork, but also the start of a new journey that will require dedication, patience and sacrifice.
The journey was tough- lots of good days and bad, but I’m thankful to have been surrounded by such inspiring and supportive people to help me through. About half way through the journey I decided that upon graduation I would start my own practice. The challenge of doing so excited me and kept me going each and every day. I am grateful to all of those who have been part of the journey and am thankful to have so many mentors in the healing arts and in business who have helped me and continue to help me turn my dreams into reality. I now understand that there is a reason for everything in life and I would not change one thing as they have all led me to where I am right now. I am so lucky that chiropractic chose me and am excited to serve in the best profession in the world for the rest of my life. After a long and winding journey, with a dream and the support of many, Element Chiropractic & Wellness is excited to serve you!
