Winter is a great time to enjoy the slower, quieter side of Shawnee Forest Country in Southernmost Illinois. The cooler temperatures mean no bugs or snakes and the trees are bare, allowing you to see much further into the forests. Bluffs hidden behind the summer foliage emerge dramatically into sight. The Shawnee National Forest can be magical any time of the year but the transition to winter can be especially dramatic.

⟡ friday belongs to the forest friends on the forest floor, tiny lives move among fallen leaves, offering a glimpse of quiet magic before the season of stillness. soon, the forest will settle into calm, as dormancy and hibernation blanket the land.
//with only 20 days left in the year, i’ll be sharing daily reflections to honor moments of growth, quiet, and wonder. closing out 2025 with gratitude and intention. ⟡

I’ve been working quietly on something that means a lot to me. At this year’s midwest environmental education conference, I’ll be guiding a forest bathing walk — a space to slow down, reconnect, and let nature hold us for a while. The upcoming 2025 Midwest Environmental Education Conference is all about getting outside and connecting! And we have all the best sessions to help you do just that including "An Immersive Journey into Nature" with certified Forest Therapy guide, Emily Webb.

This guided walk encourages mindfulness and sensory awareness. Through intentional practices and gentle prompts, participants will slow down, observe, and reconnect.

⟡ september was a blur — i turned 34.

⟡ i stayed in a dome at , such a magical place + it felt like pressing pause in the best way. (will post photo/video content sometime.)

⟡ i found the best gym + gym crew in town. 

⟡ i started prozac a little over 2 months ago — slowly, even though i feel like a zombie, the negative voices have been silenced. 

⟡ i danced + ate my way through festivals, breathed in (warm) fall air, + remembered what it feels like to feel okay again.

⟡ i haven’t posted in over a month because i’ve been busy living. not curating. not promoting. just… being.

⟡ instagram feels weird sometimes + i’m questioning what the point of it even is. like it’s all ads, influencers, and perfectly filtered lives. but maybe there’s still space here for honesty. for quiet wins. for saying: i’m still here. i’m doing well. i’m figuring it out.
