Ken brings over 30 years of manufacturing experience and will be working across our production, tooling, and engineering teams to help strengthen operations and improve efficiency throughout the company. Matrix Plastic Products’ facility expansion strengthens in-house moldmaking, cleanroom molding and engineering integration, enabling more complex medical tools and supporting next-generation minimally invasive and robotic-assisted devices.

Relocating to a new 88,000 sq ft Bloomingdale, IL facility triples space and expands moldmaking, molding and cleanroom capabilities.

Moldmaking remains a critical internal core competency that fully integrates with engineering and production departments, playing a pivotal role in niches like insert molding and complex applications for minimally invasive medical technologies, including robotic-assisted surgery.

Key additions include:

- A second Sodick ALN400G iGroove+ wire EDM (0.002" min wire) and planned CNC hard milling automation upgrades.

- Plustech horizontal TR300EH (300T) and vertical VR40G-LP (40T) presses, expanding tonnage range from 15 to 300 tons.

- Coherent ExactWeld 230 laser welder and OGP SmartScope M45 3D multisensor dimensional measuring system.

- A nearly three times larger ISO 8 cleanroom at 3,300 square feet, expandable, to support micromolding and insert-molding for medical OEMs.

This growth reinforces long-term commitment to medical OEMs, underscoring the central role moldmaking plays in enabling the next generation of medical devices.

On hand was 2023 graduate of TMA's Related Theory Apprentice Program in Mold Making Tom of Matrix(L), Sales & Marketing Manager Anne Ziegenhorn(CL), and First Year Apprentice in TMA's Related Theory Apprentice Program in Mold Making Angel of Matrix(R). Alliance Specialties & Laser Sales President Tony Demakis(CR) gave his time, truck and strength to get the new addition delivered safely to TMA!
