**Updated Aurora Timing Next 2 Nights**
The Space Weather Prediction Center has updated the latest forecast for the aurora activity levels (Kp) and the geomagnetic storm threshold for the next 2 nights. I will list the times in EST below.
*Summary*
Sky watchers tonight should be on watch between 10pm and 1am EST, especially in Ohio. This is when the sky is most likely to clear and the aurora activity is projected to be higher. The timing is tricky for tomorrow's bigger CME hit. The initial blast is projected to hit late morning to the middle of the day. That would mean the highest aurora levels globally would be in the afternoon and evening. However, every one of these projections comes with a margin of error that is about +/- 6 to 12 hours. So the blast may hit early tomorrow morning. That would be the worst-case scenario for aurora lovers in the lower 48 of the US. However, if the CME hits at the later end of that margin of error, that would be best best-case scenario with G4 conditions after 7pm Wednesday.
Regardless, I would plan to be out watching the sky on Wednesday night as soon as it is dark enough to see the night sky. That will be about 6:30pm to 7pm, depending on your location. So about 7pm to midnight is the most likely time to see the aurora on Wednesday night based on the latest data.
