It's Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) a time to raise awareness of disparities affecting Black mothers and to advocate for equitable maternal care.

Black women experience multiple barriers to accessing care for maternal mental health conditions at the individual, sociocultural, and structural levels.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own! 💙

SNVMC Intensive Care Unit nurse, Boryana Peeva, was honored as a recipient of the The Healthcare Council 14th annual Employee of the Year Awards, presented on March 19. This well-deserved honor reflects her compassionate leadership, outstanding clinical expertise, and unwavering commitment to our community.

Boryana’s impact reaches far beyond the bedside. Before embarking on a personal journey to Mount Everest Base Camp, she cared for a beloved grandmother in her final moments, surrounded by family. When she learned the family was from Nepal, they shared a piece of fabric with messages of love and remembrance for her to carry. Boryana brought those heartfelt words with her every step of the way—honoring that patient’s memory at the summit.

Her story is a powerful reminder of the deep connections and compassion that define our team every day.

Books by Mail is a free service offered by Prince William Public Libraries for Prince William County and City of Manassas residents who are physically unable to visit the library due to a temporary or permanent physical disability or impairment.
