💙 Happy National Volunteer Week! 💙

This week, we celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time, compassion, and energy to support our patients, families, and care teams. Whether offering a warm smile, helping guide someone through our halls, or lending a listening ear, their generosity makes a powerful difference every day.

We honored our volunteers at a special lunch on Saturday to thank them for helping us create moments of comfort, connection, and hope. We are deeply grateful for all you do — this week and always! 🌟

National Healthcare Decisions Day is April 16 - an important time to talk about what your wishes would be if you're facing a medical crisis. Also important, completing or updating your Advance Directive so your loved ones and healthcare providers know the care you would want.

Making your healthcare preferences know and sharing your Advance Directive can be a gift to those who are important to you.

In this video the Rev. Dr. Ruth Anne Sawyer of Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center talks about the importance of sharing your wishes.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own! 💙

SNVMC Intensive Care Unit nurse, Boryana Peeva, was honored as a recipient of the The Healthcare Council 14th annual Employee of the Year Awards, presented on March 19. This well-deserved honor reflects her compassionate leadership, outstanding clinical expertise, and unwavering commitment to our community.

Boryana’s impact reaches far beyond the bedside. Before embarking on a personal journey to Mount Everest Base Camp, she cared for a beloved grandmother in her final moments, surrounded by family. When she learned the family was from Nepal, they shared a piece of fabric with messages of love and remembrance for her to carry. Boryana brought those heartfelt words with her every step of the way—honoring that patient’s memory at the summit.

Her story is a powerful reminder of the deep connections and compassion that define our team every day.
