✨Last Thursday I slept horribly and woke up with a migraine🤕. I rarely get migraines but when I'm blessed with one, I almost can't move. It hurts to walk, to talk, to chew, to do anything. Luckily, I have a lifetime contract with a practitioner so he gave me acupuncture🪡 and helped me do warming socks🧦. I also made and drank a cup of fat coffee (coffee + butter + coconut cream + cinnamon + collagen + cordyceps).

⚡45 mins later, the throbbing sensation was gone though I still had a mild temporal headache. I went to work that afternoon like usual. I got so busy at work that day, it wasn't until the end of the day that I remembered I started the day with a migraine.

Hi, continued 😄...

5️⃣I have always had an obsession of albino animals, literally any albino animal. I’ve never met one in real life and I don’t know why I am this way.

6️⃣I’m an external processor so I like conversations, they help me process the world and get to know the person I'm conversing with.

7️⃣I don’t like taking baths, I don’t find them relaxing. They always seem like a good idea but I’m usually so over it 5 minutes in. I do shower almost every day, thank you for wondering.

8️⃣Some things I’m learning/trying to master this year: mushroom hunting, pottery, gardening, cooking Vietnamese food, and reading (I’m not illiterate, I just don’t enjoy reading and I have this romantic perception of the act of reading).

These are just 8 things I’d like to share today. Apart from the usual “I love to travel, hike and eat delicious food” items. What would you like to know about me? I'm an open book. What’s something you want me to know about you?

⚡You know when the universe hands you EXACTLY what you need?!? That happened to me the other day when .nd nominated me for an “8 Things About Me” thing. Thanks, friend🤗

🤔I have been putting off on writing an introductory post. How do you even summarize a life in an Instagram caption?!?! Do I tell you who I am as a human or as a doctor?

☝🏽I’ve decided that I’d like to tell you who I am because what I do is just a small part of the whole. I’m Cindy…it’s nice to meet you. Let’s get personal!

1️⃣ I’m an only child to an amazing mother who I haven’t hugged for 10 months and I have big feelings about that. She’s my best friend. I’m an Earth Snake, my mom is a Wood Snake. We’re pretty much the same.

2️⃣ I’m Vietnamese-Canadian. I was born in Vietnam. I’m making a conscious effort to cultivate my Vietnamese culture and language abilities. I moved to Canada when I was 10YO so my Vietnamese is sort of stunted to that age. I only speak Vietnamese with my mom now and she laughs at my verbiage a lot.

3️⃣ I like to curse. Curse words are passionate, expressive and multi-dimensional. When I was a teenager, I loved to swear when I was by myself. I got such a thrill from it. Swearing made me feel like a rebel, I wasn’t really rebellious otherwise.

4️⃣ Which brings me to the fact that I’m afraid of “getting in trouble”. I don’t know why, I never really “got in trouble” so it’s all just imaginary. The opposite side of the coin is that I like order and rules, that way I know exactly how far outside the box I can operate. I should seek therapy soon.

Allergies, anyone?!?!

My allergies started with an intensely itchy palate about 4 years into living in Portland Oregon. Yes...the palate... the area of my mouth that I almost never think about until I burn myself eating a hot bowl of pho. Is that just a me problem? I thought I was going bonkers but it turned out to be a reaction to the explosion of that high quality PNW pollen.

I do a few different things to combat my allergies now and they all work great. One of those therapies is . Acupuncture has been shown to decrease serum IgE, an allergy marker in your blood. I demonstrate most therapies on myself because it's easier than fighting with HIPPA. All that is to say, please don't acupuncture yourself at home (unless you're an acupuncturist).

✨Got myself some gnarly back pain this past weekend. Culprit = unevenly carrying too many things🏋🏽‍♀️ while paddle boarding 🛶 to a campsite🏕️. My range of motion was limited, it hurt to turn my head, I couldn't get comfortable in bed...it was a whole ordeal 😧😥😓

How did I take care of it⁉️ I got some chiropractic care (thanks ), had cupping done (thanks ), drank lots of water, stretched in a warm shower🚿, used Tiger Balm 🐅 patches and am taking it easy to allow my body ample time to heal. Did the pain go away instantly with any of the above? No, but I would say that I'm about 90% better and it has only been 3 days. My range of motion is pretty much normal but I still have some tightness. Slow and steady wins the race!
