GET INFORMED ABOUT THE ENDEAVOR PROGRAM @ CRESTWOOD! We are Dan Selmer (LCSW-R) and Jen McElhiney (MA, CCC-SLP), the Director and Assistant Director of Endeavor . As a child psychotherapist and a speech-language pathologist, we lead Endeavor, a program dedicated to providing a traditional day camp experience for children and families navigating challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, and other difficulties that may interfere with a child’s ability to succeed in camp.
We believe in the transformative power of camp and have seen its incredible impact summer after summer. However, we often face challenges in connecting with families of campers who meet the criteria for Endeavor and the unique support we provide.
Endeavor is not a program for children requiring one-on-one support. Instead, we focus on children who:
Appear neurotypical but struggle with executive functioning, peer socialization, flexibility, self-regulation, and adjusting to camp.
May feel overwhelmed in the camp environment, preventing them from fully thriving.
Are often placed in general camp groups where their needs go unnoticed until behaviors are misinterpreted as defiance, disinterest, or withdrawal rather than unaddressed difficulties.
With proper identification and skilled and compassionate support, these campers can develop the skills they need to thrive in camp—and truly enjoy the experience for the first time.
