Protecting your skin is a must when the sun’s blazing. Along with making sure to include sunscreen in your skin care routine, face the summer with a healthy, glowing look!
After-hours exfoliation with Lemon*: Protect your skin from sun damage with a DIY nighttime exfoliant. Mix 1 tablespoon jojoba oil with 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, ⅓ cup granulated sugar, and 4 drops Lemon essential oil. Gently apply the scrub to your face and massage in a circular motion for about 1 minute. Rinse and then moisturize.
Hydrating face mask with Helichrysum: Glow alongside the sun with a glistening complexion! Mix ¼ cup aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, and 3 drops Helichrysum essential oil. Apply to your face and wear for at least 10 minutes to get maximum moisture. Rinse and shine!
Body balm with Geranium and Grapefruit*: Sun exposure can cause damage to your skin even if you avoid sunburn. Add 3 drops each of Geranium and Grapefruit to your favorite body butter and apply to your skin for a healthy dose of hydration.
Dewy skin care with Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood™ and Orange*: Banish dry skin with a super-hydrating skin care routine. Add Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood essential oil to your face wash and moisturizer and Orange to your night cream to get in on a natural glow.
Stellar-smelling sunscreen with Carrot Seed: Give sun protection a sensational scent by adding 2-3 drops of Carrot Seed essential oil to your sunscreen.
# # **FRANKINCENSE OIL
**
**What is frankincense oil** good for? For starters, it’s often used to reduce the appearance of sunspots and age spots. If you have uneven color on your skin, some whiteness in some areas, any spottiness or splotchiness, frankincense oil is the No. 1 ingredient that can help even out skin tone and help get rid of sunspots and age spots.
Frankincense essential oil is a powerful astringent that can be used to help **reduce acne** blemishes, the appearance of large pores and wrinkles. Frankincense is also one of the best essential oils for skin tightening. The oil can be used anywhere where the skin becomes saggy, such as the abdomen, jowls or under the eyes. Mix six drops of oil to one ounce of an unscented oil like jojoba oil and apply it directly to the skin.
# # **LAVENDER OIL
**
Looking for more essential oils for wrinkles around mouth or anywhere else on the body? I definitely can’t leave **lavender essential oil** off this list. It’s probably the No. 1 oil that helps heal skin conditions, burns and cuts, but it’s also great for fighting signs of aging, too!
You need antioxidants to successfully **fight free radical damage**, which includes signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. According to research, lavender essential oil helps your body produce three of your bodies most powerful antioxidants, glutathione, catalase and superoxide dismutase. (8)
With its known antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics, lavender essential mixed with **benefit-rich aloe vera** or coconut oil can have profound positive effects on the skin. (9) Combing 10 drops of lavender oil with one ounce of aloe vera or coconut oil can help soothe the worst sunburn and bring rapid healing to dry skin, minor cuts and scraps.
Want to reduce age spots? Try mixing lavender oil with frankincense essential oil and put it on those spots right before bed.
# # **COPAIBA OIL
**
Copaiba is another versatile essential oil that can be added to your body care routine. Garro explains it's a very gentle oil with a light scent, making it a good fit for an everyday cream. "It is so soothing to the skin," Garro said. "It is high in beta-caryophyllene which has been studied for its affects on skin." She recommends mixing copaiba with your favorite body lotion to try it for yourself.
# # **ROMAN CHAMOMILE OIL
**
If you're prone to dry or dehydrated skin, Garro recommends using diluted chamomile essential oil to help revitalize and hydrate your skin. Chamomile is also excellent in an essential oil blend: Garro often mixes chamomile with lavender and cedarwood oils diluted with a jojoba or coconut oil for people with particularly sensitive skin or for use on children.
