Training close to failure in resistance training is important because it pushes your muscles to actually work hard enough to grow. As you get closer to the point where you can’t squeeze out another rep with good form, your body starts recruiting more muscle fibers to keep the weight moving. That’s where a lot of the magic happens for building strength and size.
It also helps make sure your sets are challenging enough instead of just going through the motions. You don’t have to hit absolute failure every time, think having 1-3 reps left in the tank, but getting close makes your workouts way more effective.
