KINECIO Physical Therapy is now offering postpartum HOME visits!

We want to support women following childbirth so they heal faster, feel empowered and have the tools they need to move forward confidently in their postpartum journey.

Postpartum care should be an ongoing process!

You do not have to wait until your 6 week visit with your OB/GYN or midwife to have your postpartum questions or concerns addressed!

You can see a physical therapist between 1 and 6 weeks postpartum in the comfort of your own home!

What are some of the topics commonly covered in a postpartum home visit?

✔️ Hearing your unique birth story and current recovery
✔️How to properly care for perineum and pelvic floor following delivery
✔️Recovery from a cesarean delivery
✔️Normal bladder and bowel function
✔️Support and positioning during feeding
✔️Checking diastasis recti
✔️Preventing and reducing pain while caring for your new baby
✔️Reintegrate basic movements to facilitate diaphragm, pelvic floor and core connection
✔️ Discussing safe return to exercise

Those first few weeks of motherhood can be difficult to leave the home to get the care you need. KINECIO wants to meet you AT HOME so you can have your best postpartum experience!

Call today to plan your postpartum recovery!

What is the number one thing you can do to prevent overtraining? Increase gradually. Nearly 60% of running related injuries are due to getting volume increases or workloads wrong. You can avoid this trap. Just start by following one simple guideline: limit your milage increase to 10% per week. If you ran 15 miles last week and felt good, great! Go with 16.5 this week. You might feel like you should be doing more, but gradual overload will allow your body to adapt. Sometimes, slow and steady really does win the race!

Did you know?? One in four runners will experience knee pain this Summer. That’s too many!!

If you’re one of the unlucky one-in-four, read on! This does not mean you have to stop running. Often, this pain is simply a result of an imbalance between load, and capacity.

What do we mean by that? Think of load as the force you put through your joints with every step, and capacity is your body’s ability to control that load. Preventing injury and keeping you on the path is all about reducing load and increasing capacity and strength.

It is important to vary the surfaces you run on. Additionally, there is growing evidence that supports gradually progressing to a more minimalist shoe.

The running tips we shared this week can help smooth out your stride, decrease the load on your body, and improve your efficiency, but are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to running analysis. For an in-depth look at your specific needs, give us a call!

The goal of running is to go forward, right? If you are jumping up and down each step, you’re wasting energy and putting more load through your body! If this is you, try smoothing out your gait. Focus on keeping your head as level as possible.

Make your running more efficient by starting with the four S’s of running analysis: Sound, Step rate, Spring, and Surface!

Today we cover, STEP RATE, the 2nd "S"! Focus on a shorter stride and more steps. Research shows increasing your cadence by 5% will give you 20% less force on your knees! To find out about the 1st "S", see the video in yesterday's post.

Ever wonder how to make your running more efficient? Start with the four S’s of running analysis: Sound, Step rate, Spring, and Surface!

Today we cover SOUND, the 1st "S"! Can you hear in the video how loud his foot-strike is? Don't waste your energy stomping like this. Focus on a quiet landing.
