KAP is a time-limited treatment protocol, not a new daily medication, not a shortcut. A structured series of sessions that uses ketamine's neuroplastic window to do therapeutic work on the patterns driving the cycle. Trauma, avoidance, emotional regulation, relational history. Careful screening required. Not right for everyone. For people who've tried the standard path and are still searching for something that reaches further, link in bio.

New York has no shortage of ketamine providers. Many of them are excellent clinically. But a common frustration we hear from people who come to us from the city is simpler than you'd expect: waitlists that stretch months out, and when they finally got in, sessions that felt rushed. A medical team managing vitals, no one present during the experience itself, no structured follow-up.

That's not a criticism of those practices. High overhead in Manhattan means high volume. The economics demand it.

Higher Ground is structured differently. Our sessions run for three hours. A clinician is present throughout the dosing experience. Preparation happens before the first session. Integration is built into the protocol, not offered as an optional add-on.

The Connecticut locations aren't a geographic compromise. New Haven is about 90 minutes from Grand Central on Metro-North. Woodbury is roughly the same by car from most of Brooklyn. Patients tell us that leaving the city is part of it: a quieter environment, less ambient urgency, a clinical team that isn't scheduling the next patient during your session.

KAP requires careful screening. Not everyone who inquires is a good candidate, and we take that seriously. For the people it is right for, a short train ride tends to feel like a reasonable trade for a practice that has the bandwidth to do the work properly.

Something has been in the works for a while, and it is finally time to share it.
Higher Ground is opening a third location this May in Westport, CT. A Victorian building, set back from the street, surrounded by mature greenery, with a private entrance. The kind of place that was built to hold something.

The Westport studio will offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, therapy intensives, depth-oriented psychotherapy, and other integrative healing experiences for clients in Fairfield County and beyond. The same clinical precision and discretion that define our Woodbury and New Haven practices are now available closer to where many of you are.

If you have been waiting for this, the waitlist is open now.
Link in bio, or visit highergroundct.com/westport to be the first to know about KAP availability, intensive scheduling, and upcoming events.

We are looking forward to meeting you there.

Weekly therapy moves at the pace of weekly life. For some people, at some moments, that is not enough.
The Reset Series creates something different: uninterrupted depth, held inside a clinical container, with a medicine that makes the nervous system temporarily more available to change.
The goal is not a single transformative experience. It is the window that experience opens, and the integration work that makes it last.

Most couples arrive in therapy after years of the same cycle. The argument changes. The dynamic underneath it does not.

That dynamic is not a character flaw in either partner. It is a nervous system that learned to protect itself and then brought that protection into the relationship. Withdrawal, reactivity, emotional unavailability. These are not failures of love. They are adaptations that once made sense but have long since stopped serving the relationship.

Ketamine-assisted couples therapy works because it addresses the level where those patterns actually live. Ketamine opens a neuroplastic window, a brief period where the brain becomes more flexible, and the body's defensive architecture softens. Inside that window, the therapeutic work that is ordinarily very slow becomes more accessible. Partners can reach each other in ways that weeks of traditional sessions sometimes cannot create.

At Higher Ground, every KAP session includes a therapist present throughout, attachment-focused clinical guidance, and structured integration after each session to anchor what opened during treatment.

This is not for couples in early distress. It is for couples who have done the work and need something that reaches deeper than the work.

Consultations are private. Link in bio. Woodbury and New Haven, CT.

When you’ve been living in survival mode for a long time, “coping” can start to feel like a full-time job.

And even the best insight can fall flat if your nervous system still feels unsafe.

At Higher Ground, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a guided reset for the brain, body, and emotional system delivered in a calm, private setting and paired with real integration support.

Ketamine works on NMDA receptors and increases glutamate, which supports neuroplasticity—the brain’s capacity to loosen rigid loops and become more responsive to therapy. In that window of openness, deeper healing can take root.

This is precision care, built by a trauma-focused psychotherapist—where preparation, dosing support, and integration are part of the protocol.

If you’re feeling emotionally shut down, chronically stressed, burnt out, or stuck in patterns you can’t “think” your way out of—this may be the next right step.

Most families who come to Ray have already tried a lot of things. Different schools. Different programs. Different approaches to the same conversations that keep ending the same way.

What Ray understands, and what makes his work different, is that the young person in the middle of it is rarely the problem. The system they are trying to fit into usually is. His job is to help them build a life that works for their brain, not against it.

Ray works with families, teens, and young adults navigating neurodivergence, behavioral challenges, and the complex transitions that weekly therapy alone can't always hold. That includes the critical period after a wilderness or residential program, when coming home is where the real work begins.

He works with the whole system. Parents, identified patients, schools, and treatment teams. Because sustainable change does not happen in a single office.

If your family is in one of those moments where you need someone who can see the full picture and help everyone move differently within it, Ray is that person.

Learn more about working with Ray at the link in bio.

In this video, founder and therapist Samantha Tramuta, LCSW, LAC, breaks down how ketamine therapy actually works. In a clinical setting, it can open a window of neuroplasticity, giving the brain a chance to form new connections and loosen old patterns.

At Higher Ground, we combine that biology with attachment-based therapy and nervous system work so the shift actually sticks.

Ketamine Therapy can feel mysterious from the outside, so here’s what to expect.
☁️
At Higher Ground, ketamine is used to augment therapy by enhancing neuroplasticity: a temporary window where the brain becomes more flexible and receptive to change. This work can support individuals and couples, especially when stress, anxiety, depression, trauma patterns, or disconnection have made progress feel stuck.

Sessions are precision-dosed and clinically supervised by licensed medical providers in a calm, private setting.

How it can feel: many clients describe a sense of spaciousness and calm, like the volume turns down on stress loops. The acute effects typically last about 45–60 minutes, but benefits may extend days to weeks, and for many weeks to months with a structured series and integration.

Integration is where change becomes sustainable. After your session, we help you translate what shifted into real life, through integration, reflection, and supportive next steps so insights don’t fade… they become new patterns.
