Here we’re demonstrating the removal of our scar-mesh system just under 4 weeks post-op following a brachioplasty performed through an anterior approach. The mesh provides excellent splinting of the incision while maintaining a watertight environment. This offers protection from external elements and helps minimize tension across the healing scar. We will now transition to a taping and silicone regimen to support continued scar maturation and maintain these results.

Our patient was suffering from chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain as well as bra strap discomfort from accessory breast tissue. Liposuction is designed to improve body contour, not to achieve weight loss. The ideal candidate is someone who is close to a healthy, stable weight but has localized pockets of fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise. These areas are often influenced by genetics, hormones, or natural body shape, and no amount of lifestyle change will fully eliminate them.

I typically recommend liposuction for patients who meet the following criteria:

1. Localized, well-defined fat deposits
Areas such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, thighs, arms, back, chest, or under the chin that feel disproportionate to the rest of your body and haven’t improved despite healthy habits.

2. Good skin quality
The skin should have reasonable elasticity so it can retract smoothly after the fat is removed. Patients with significant skin laxity may require skin-tightening or excisional procedures instead or in addition.

3. Stable body weight
You should be within a comfortable, maintainable weight range. Liposuction is not intended for general weight reduction or treatment of obesity.

4. Realistic goals
You’re looking for better shape, not a dramatic drop in size. Liposuction refines contours and proportions, creating a more balanced silhouette.

5. Overall good health
You should be medically stable with no uncontrolled conditions that would increase surgical risk, such as significant heart disease, uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders, or active infections.

6. Non-smoker or willing to stop
Smoking impairs healing and increases the risk of complications, so abstaining before and after surgery is important.

24 hour post op arm lipocontouring with Renuvion. Although the degree of skin laxity observed would typically warrant a brachioplasty, our patient’s history of keloid formation prompted us to pursue a less invasive approach. A combination of lipocontouring and Renuvion technology already yielding a dramatic improvement and the best to yet to come. Stay tuned….
