DEPUTY SUMMER ELIZABETH JENKINS E.O.W. December 19, 2024

27, of Bellbrook, She was born on May 24, 1997, in Louisville, KY to her parents Bob Jenkins and Lisa Melson. Summer graduated with honors from Avon High School in Avon Indiana. While in high school she competed in cross country and track & field. She enjoyed the performing arts and played the viola for the school orchestra. After high school, Summer attended the University of Dayton where she studied mechanical engineering. While at the University of Dayton, she attended the student police academy where she discovered her true calling. Summer graduated from the Sinclair law enforcement academy in July of 2020 and started her career in law enforcement with the Colerain Police Department. She went on to spend 4 years with the Cedarville police department, where in addition to her normal responsibilities, she provided security detail for governor Mike Dewine and comedian Dave Chappelle. On Labor Day she became a part of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department forging many new relationships with friends and coworkers. Aside from her career in law enforcement, Summer was a fun-loving and kind woman. She was a gifted artist and could always be found painting, drawing, and playing music, mostly her viola and guitar for which she had become very gifted. She was a lover of all animals, especially her cats, and will always be remembered for her sweetness and sensitivity to those around her. Summer will forever be missed by those who loved her, and she leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Summer is survived by both of her parents Bob and Lisa, maternal grandmother Beryl K. Melson, as well as many friends, cousins, aunts and uncles, and devoted members of Clark County Sheriff’s Office. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Thurman Grandberry Melson III as well as Daniel Jenkins and Lou Ann Jenkins. Visitation for Summer will be held Sunday December 29th from 2-5pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where her funeral service will be the following day on Monday, December 30th at 10:00 with burial to follow with procession to Maplewood Cemetery in Indiana.
