There’s something special about coloring soap with ingredients that come straight from nature.
Today we’re mixing organic spirulina powder into a batch of cold process soap. Spirulina is a nutrient-dense blue-green algae that’s naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids. When used in soap, it creates a soft natural green color while also bringing along many of those beneficial properties.
Natural colorants like spirulina are one of our favorite ways to add beauty to handmade soap. Instead of synthetic dyes or artificial pigments, ingredients from the earth can give soaps subtle, organic tones that feel just as nourishing as the ingredients inside.
Each natural colorant has its own personality too. Spirulina can create anything from a light sage green to a deeper earthy tone depending on how it’s used in the batch.
It’s a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful colors come from the simplest ingredients.
