Absolutely speechless today.

Governor Newsom has officially signed SB41 into law, a bill that is a massive first step in reigning in the harmful practices of PBMs, the corporate middlemen that dictate what you pay at the pharmacy. The odds were against us with the massive amounts of corporate money flowing into the misinformation campaign to defeat this common sense legislation.

But we won. Thanks to advocates like California Chronic Care Coalition and California Pharmacists Association. To Senator Scott Wiener for his leadership and lifting our voices. To our patients advocacy in contacting the governor. To the many independent pharmacy owners that didn’t give up.

We have a long battle ahead but today we have hope. Independent pharmacy is and will always be an advocate for the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

Independent pharmacy is at a crisis point.

Our governor has a few days left to sign SB41 into law which provides essential regulation for the corrupt PBM industry. Please urge him to act now before independent pharmacies become a relic of the past.

Even though my diagnosis felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me, I knew I would never give up.

SB41, a common sense bill to regulate the out of control PBM industry is sitting on the Governor's desk. If you'd like to see independent pharmacy stay alive in California, please voice your support for this badly needed reform with the Governor's office by visiting the link in the comments.

If one side wants more transparency and one doesn't, who do you believe?

Independent pharmacies are closing across California and nationwide, and chain pharmacies aren’t far behind. Pharmacy benefit managers have a chokehold on prescriptions and their pricing.

A delightfully nostalgic offering from the Boyer candy company available at your corner store!

Jimmie Stix were the first new candy launched by Boyer Candy, creator of the Mallo Cup (1936) in 25 years. With a retro look but acknowledging modern tastes, Jimmie Stixs are delicious pretzels covered in chocolate and peanut butter.

Boyer Candy Company was formed during the Great Depression by brothers Bill and Bob Boyer. Originally they sold candy door to door but as demand increased their started their own factory.

The company also acquired another classic, the Clark Bar, when Necco went bankrupt in 2018. Enjoy a new taste of nostalgia at Corner Drug!

Enjoy a taste of history at your corner store!

We have a wide selection of nostalgic candies and treats and today we highlight: Sifers Valomilk.

The Sifers family of Kansas City, MO first started making candy in 1903, just 5 years after Corner Drug opened its doors. They created Valomilk in 1931 and named it for its main ingredients: Vanilla and marshmallow with a delightfully milky taste. They are still made by the Sifer family on the original equipment and copper kettles, a fourth generation family business.

As the Sifers love to say, “when it runs down your chin, you know it’s a VALOMILK!”

The Store of Service

Corner Drug, the independent pharmacy of Yolo County, has been serving Woodland since 1897. With our affordable delivery service, customized packaging and caring staff, we are dedicated to going above and beyond for our community. As a third generation family business we work hard to keep the Corner Drug legacy thriving.

In addition to providing the highest quality of medical care, we have a storefront with gifts, treats and a large toy section with Folkmanis puppets, Melissa and Doug toys, and Jellycat stuffed animals. Bring the whole family down to the corner of First and Main and prepare to feel like you’ve stepped back in time to an age where the customer comes first. We hope to see you soon!
