🔬 What if you approached your mind like an experiment? 🔬

Join RSYI School of Wisdom & History this month to explore ✨ The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali ✨ one of the most well-known ancient texts of yoga.

⏳️ The Sutras are over 2,000 years old and systematized yoga as a path and a practice. This is where the foundation of the 8 limbs of yoga and so many other timeless yogic teachings come from.

🧘 Before the time of downward dogs, yoga was a practice of stilling the mind. These teachings guide us into experiencing the now; moving from confusion and identification toward clarity, freedom, and deeper awareness.

Join Ellery in exploring this rich wisdom alongside Samkhya philosophy. Through meditation, reflection, and discussion, you’ll step into the role of observer, becoming a student of your own mind.

Through the lens of commitment (abhyāsa) and non-attachment (vairāgya), we'll explore how these pillars of yoga manifest. We'll inquire into how this practice extends beyond the internal, shaping how we relate, respond, and show up in the world.

No prior experience with the Yoga Sutras is needed. This workshop is open to all.

✨️📕 April's RSYI area of study is Wisdom & History 📕✨️

Together we'll dive into the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - a collection of 196 short teachings, or “threads,” originally passed down orally and later written between 200–400 CE.

Rather than focusing on physical postures, they explore the nature of the mind, meditation, and the path toward freedom from suffering.

They aren’t something to “figure out” but something to return to.
Each time we study them, new meaning unfolds.

Join us in exploring the Sutras in our April Reading Circle!

This month we’re reading The Path of the Sutras by Nicolai Bachman - a compelling & modern interpretation to support our study together.

You’re welcome whether you’ve read the book or not!

Are you curious about learning how to give hands on assists? Whether you're a teacher, currently in teacher training, a dedicated practitioner, or a volunteer, R&S is offering the first Assisting Skills & Techniques training with Ray & Meng.

Join us for an intensive training focused on intentional, consent-based physical touch in yoga spaces. This program emphasizes safe, supportive assisting techniques with ample time for hands-on practice.

This training is a prerequisite to becoming Practice Support, a new studio role coming to River & Stone in Fall 2026. Practice Support assists studio classes through optional, gentle hands-on support under the guidance of the lead teacher.

The chair becomes a steady foundation, offering support as you explore gentle stretching, mindful movement, simple strength work and breath.

Most of the class is seated, with standing options offered if they feel right for you. We’ll close with a quiet seated meditation in savasana.

This series welcomes all levels and is especially helpful if you’re recovering, navigating limited mobility, or simply wanting a more accessible way to practice.

Bring your mat. We’ll have the chairs and props ready for you.

We’re not only expanding the space but we're also expanding the schedule!!

Our new Upstairs space is officially coming to life and is ready to hold classes starting Saturday, March 14th.

Upstairs is home to our slow, reflective, integrative practices. A place to soften your pace, deepen your breath, and study in community.

🌿 New to the weekly schedule:

• Restorative (Tues 7pm)
• Pranayama & Somatics (Wed 4pm) *starting April 8*
• Uplevel Flow (Sat 8:45am)
• Gentle Somatics (Sat 10:15am)
• Pranayama (Mon 8:45am before Matless)

Plus additional favorites moving Upstairs - including Slow Flow, Fundamentals, and more.
