The Rose Monahan Hospice Home has been a source of peace and comfort for nearly 30 years – all thanks to the support of so many in our community. We were honored to host a gathering of donors and volunteers at the residence, and share more about the important work being done there each day.

Our special thanks to Shelagh Whitcomb, senior director of hospice; Amy Daley, hospice clinical services manager; and Lindy Hayden-Queeno, hospice volunteer coordinator, for giving their personal perspectives on the impact our supporters make on the lives of terminally ill patients and their loved ones.

When Joanne Malone arrived at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, she was welcomed not just as a patient, but as part of a family. Sunlight filled her room overlooking Coes Pond, and staff ensured she was comfortable, cared for, and treated with the dignity she deserved.

Her daughter Deborah Chapin shared how the team -- from compassionate nurses to attentive aides and volunteers -- made her mother's final months peaceful and meaningful. "It's comforting to know your loved one is in good hands," she said.

When Edwin Page's health declined, his family wanted one thing above all: to honor his wish to remain at home. With VNA Care's home health and hospice teams, they were able to give him that gift.

From home health visits he looked forward to -- "When I see them coming up the driveway, it lights me up," he said -- to the guidance and compassion of the hospice team, Edwin received care that brought comfort and dignity to his final days.

His daughter, Jennifer Gallotta, shared, "It was absolutely incredible how we were supported."
