Meet Stacey Parzych, Program Coordinator—Cardiac Rehab at Harrington Hospital.

"Before entering health care, I worked at a retirement community when I was around 18. My role did not involve “hands-on” contact with the residents. At that time, I didn’t have the training and skills I needed, but it made me think about my future. My mother was also a significant influence on me. She was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, and it was a flexible and rewarding career. With my mother's inspiration and my desire to help others, it was natural for me to pursue a healthcare career. Throughout my career, I have always continued to learn and grow. I started my healthcare journey as a Certified Nurse Assistant, worked hard to become a nurse, and have continued to gain valuable experience and education. I recently enrolled in a graduate nursing program to further strengthen my professional skills and expertise.

In Cardiac Rehab, our team works hard to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Cardiac events have a significant impact on both someone’s physical and mental health. We hope that our patients feel comfortable, supported, and at ease when they step into our clinic. Our goal is that when they graduate from our program, they will not only leave having built their strength and endurance through exercise, but also with a sense of accomplishment and a big boost of confidence.

There have been many memorable moments along the way. I've learned that some of the smallest acts of kindness, or just lending a listening ear, can have a profound impact on making a difference in someone’s life. I love that many of our patients stay in touch after “graduation” from our program. They will stop by when they are in the area to say hello and let us know how they are doing.

I’ve worked in a variety of settings throughout my career. I decided to transition to outpatient care after many years working at the bedside. I have worked at Harrington Hospital for just over 5 years now in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic. I enjoy working here because I feel supported and believe that they find ways to show their employees that we are valued and appreciated. I continue to evolve in my current role and take advantage of available opportunities that come my way. This makes me want to strive to be the best I can be and to provide the best possible care. I hope to continue finding ways to serve our patients and community better.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time in Maine, at the ocean, gardening, and being with my husband, son, and family."

We’re proud to share that UMass Memorial Health has been named one of Newsweek's America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women 2026.

This recognition reflects the supportive, inclusive culture our people build every day — a place where women feel heard, valued, and empowered to grow. We’re grateful to everyone who makes this community what it is.

As progress toward gender equity remains uneven across the U.S. workforce, some employers are standing out for creating environments where women can truly thrive. That’s why Newsweek, in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group, is proud to present America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women 2026, re...

Did you know UMass Memorial Health has a workforce development team within the Human Resources department to help caregivers advance into vital roles, meet evolving workforce needs and promote equitable access to career pathways?

Read all about it in our publication "2025 - A Year of Impact: Stories of Growth, Innovation and Exceptional Care" here.

It’s no secret that the health care workforce faces ongoing challenges, including widespread shortages worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. These shortages lead to longer wait times for patients and contribute to health care workers leaving the field.

"I love working at UMass Memorial Health because of the people. The sense of teamwork, support, and shared commitment to patient care creates a workplace where everyone truly matters. Being surrounded by dedicated and kind colleagues makes even the busiest days better. Plus, it’s nice to work somewhere where you can laugh, help others, and still feel appreciated — that’s not something you find everywhere."

You are such an important part of our team, Karen! Thank you for being you.

Meet Karen Lovejoy, a Cardiology Coordinator at our Cardiac Care Center at Harrington Hospital.

"I’ve always been drawn to work that truly helps people. Health care felt like the perfect path because it combines compassion, purpose, and the chance to make a real difference. Even though I work behind the scenes, knowing that my efforts help ensure patients get the care they need is something I’ve always found meaningful and motivating.

My favorite part of my job is being the person who helps everything come together smoothly. Whether it’s coordinating the schedules, making sure appointments are arranged correctly, or supporting my team, I love knowing that what I do helps our department function at its best. I take pride in being someone others can rely on.

One of the most memorable moments for me has been seeing how much of an impact good coordination and teamwork can have on patient care. When everything aligns — the schedule, the providers, and the patient’s needs — and a difficult situation turns into a positive experience, it reminds me why I do what I do.

I love working at UMass Memorial Health because of the people. The sense of teamwork, support, and shared commitment to patient care creates a workplace where everyone truly matters. Being surrounded by dedicated and kind colleagues makes even the busiest days better. Plus, it’s nice to work somewhere where you can laugh, help others, and still feel appreciated — that’s not something you find everywhere.

When I’m not working, I can often be seen relaxing with my husband and my cats, binge-watching TV series, spending time with family, or attempting to convince myself that running errands counts as a hobby."

We are so lucky to have you here, Karen! Thank you for all you do for your patients and fellow caregivers.
