Worcester Home Care is recognizing its 15th year in business by looking back at the humbling mentions in obituaries over the years. While in business, we have been mentioned in over 40 obituaries on legacy.com. If you are one of our aides who would like to look back at some of the great care you provided and see the recognition you have received as a Worcester Home Care aide, you can do so with this link:

https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/search/

When there, go to “More Filters”. Under “Search Within Results”, enter “Worcester Home Care” or “Palliative Personal Care” to pull up the obituaries in which we have been mentioned on legacy.com over the years. **Edit: I have been told this is best accessed on a laptop, rather than a cellphone.**

I did this today and it gave me some real perspective on the impact of our agency. Helping hospice patients and their families through the dying process is a challenging and fulfilling mission. Thank you to all our aides who provide calm and peace and care during the saddest of times for our families.

Legacy features obituaries from nearly 10,000 newspaper and funeral home partners from around the US. Publish your obituary with any of our 2,700+ newspaper partners and create a lasting memorial with Guestbook on Legacy.com.

Worcester Home Care specializes in helping seniors who need extensive personal care in assisted living facilities, so the resident can "age in place" and not need to move to a skilled facility or nursing home, especially after rehab or during a short-term life transition. Here is the latest testimonial from a family who benefitted from our services:

Thank you to all our Veterans. Eleven years ago, my grandfather and hero Sidney Stein was highlighted in the Veteran’s Day edition of the Worcester Telegram. https://www.telegram.com/picture-gallery/news/2014/11/08/slideshow-wwii-veteran-sidney-r/979386007/ & https://www.telegram.com/story/news/local/east-valley/2014/11/09/wwii-veteran-recalls-b-17/35974613007/?gnt-cfr=1&gca-cat=p&gca-uir=true&gca-epti=z113635d00----v113635b0041xxd004165&gca-ft=214&gca-ds=sophi If you have seen the Apple series “Masters of the Air” or the movie “Memphis Belle”, that was my grandfather, flying 30 missions over Europe in WWII as part of the Mighty 8th Army Air Corps, including two crash landings. Thanks again to Brad Petrishen for writing such a great piece. If you wish to make an end of year tax deductible donation, I humbly ask that you consider contributing to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, so the memories of these great heroes can be preserved forever. And visit in Savannah whenever you are there!

Hospice Nurse Rebecca Brewer authored a wonderfully comprehensive book on end-of-life issues for patients and families. I highly recommend it for practitioners, but especially for their families.

My Amazon review: The Last Season is an incredibly comprehensive and caring book for anyone experiencing death or the grieving process when a loved one is dying. The fear of the unknown is natural when facing the death of someone, especially someone close, because it doesn't necessarily happen often. Preparing yourself both emotionally and logistically with a guide like this to follow, may make the process substantially easier. Kudos to Rebecca for putting her experience as a hospice nurse in such a helpful, easy to read book.
