From their very first conversation, Steve Ronken knew he was in good hands with Harvey Oliver, MD, an orthopedic specialist at Sanford Health.

"From the first time I talked with Dr. Oliver and he told me we would have to run some tests, I knew he was my guy. He knew I had a unique history with my shoulder. He told me what was up, he explained all the possibilities. I didn't have to make any decisions – it all just fell into place. It was that smooth."

That confidence in his care team made all the difference as Ronken worked to regain his golf swing and return to the activities he loves.

Anthony Kasch, MD, has a passion for helping young athletes, a passion that stems from his own experience as an injured student athlete.

"When I was in college, I injured my knee and I had an orthopedic surgeon that got me in right away, got me taken care of and got me back to football at that time. After that, I just knew that's exactly what I wanted to do long term," he said.

Today, as an orthopedic surgeon at Sanford Health in Bismarck, Dr. Kasch uses that empathy to guide high school and college athletes through recovery, helping them return to the sports they love.

Dr. Anthony Kasch says it's hard to tell injured athletes they'll miss time on the field, but his own injury history makes things easier.
