Congratulations to Rodney & Jeanne on their official move-in to Ecumen Meadows!

Rodney and Jeanne are retired corn and soybean farmers who spent a lifetime working the land and building a wonderful legacy. The family tradition continues with their son Lance now running the family farm in Brewster. Speaking of family, they are blessed with 4 children and 11 grandchildren, and we can't wait to meet them all when they come to visit!

Welcome, Rodney and Jeanne! We are so happy you are here!

We’re continuing our month‑long celebration of National Nutrition Month, and this year’s theme—“Discover the Power of Nutrition”—reminds us that good health begins with reliable, science‑backed information. With so much nutrition noise online, it can be hard to know what (or who) to trust. That’s why Week 2 is all about finding guidance rooted in evidence—not trends.

We’re excited to share some big news at Ecumen!

Ecumen’s Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Cyrus Batheja, EdD, MBA, RN, FAAN, as our next President & CEO.

With this selection, Ecumen is building on a long and powerful legacy of mission-driven work serving older adults and strengthening our position as a leader in a rapidly changing health care landscape. A registered nurse, Dr. Batheja brings deep experience – starting at the bedside in senior living and leading large clinical teams.

He’ll officially join Ecumen on March 23, and we can’t wait to welcome him across our communities.

As she retires from Ecumen, we extend our sincere gratitude to Shelley Kendrick for her outstanding leadership and service to Ecumen and those we serve. She guided us successfully through COVID, hospice expansion and the transition of St. Benedict’s Communities from CentraCare to Ecumen. She championed a people-first culture and mentored countless team members during her tenure. We wish her all the best!

Join us in welcoming Cyrus to Ecumen. We’re excited for this next chapter and the continued growth and strength of our work.

We are so happy to welcome Margo to our Meadows family!

Margo had lived almost all of her adult life in Mankato before moving to Worthington to be closer to her daughter who lives in town and her son in Sioux Falls. Margo likes to stay fit and exercise. You're likely to find her getting her steps in walking the hallways. She and her daughter exercise together at the YMCA every day, too.

Margo and the Meadows had something special in common long before she moved in. Or rather, someONE special. Margo's granddaughter Maddi worked at the Meadows as an Resident Assistant while she was in high school. Today, Maddi is a nurse in the twin cities; a career inspired by her initial experience here at the Meadows! Maddi was a wonderful RA because she had all of the qualities one would look for in a caregiver such as warmth, compassion, and kindness. Margo has those same virtues, so it must run in the family!

We are so happy you're here, Margo! Thank you for choosing Ecumen Meadows!

Our February watercolor class was a lesson on water control and relaxation. We experimented with how the amount of water used affects the translucency of the paint and how different colors mix together. We discovered that painting a repeated pattern has a real calming effect on the mind - very soothing! Lois outlined her circles in black and cut out the white spaces and made a really cool, modern art piece to hang next to her front door!

Zuby Jansen gave a wonderful presentation called "Quilts that tell a story." She and her husband Kenny shared stories relating to their quilt shop and Amelia Earhart.

Zuby brought several of her quilts and invited other residents to do the same. Carol Balster, Ruth Heidebrink, Carol Jeffers, Marlis Ling, and Lois Martin all brought quilts to show.

We are grateful to those who shared their incredible artistry and the stories behind these quilts that are sure to become family heirlooms that will be cherished for generations to come! And a special thank you to Zuby for organizing and leading this special afternoon activity!
