It only makes sense that some of the most loveable people were born during the month of love! We celebrated our February birthdays over cherry Bundt cakes with cherry nut ice cream!

Birthday girls Phyllis, Sharlene, Maureen, and Chris gathered together for a picture. Also celebrating birthdays at the Meadows this month are Claudia, Audrey, Leona, Edwin, Geo, Claire, Esmerelda, and Nerah. Happy birthday to all!

We had a hare-y situation at the Meadows when our team member Bryly brought Maple, her cute Lionhead rabbit, to work. Nothing beats the joy of a surprise bunny visit! 🐰

Ellen played keyboard when she was a young girl. It had been a few years since she last played, and she missed it, so a couple of months ago, her daughter Pat surprised her by bringing her a keyboard to keep in her apartment. Now Ellen can play anytime she wants to!

Four years ago, Pat learned how to play the harp and now she is a member of a group of five local harpists called the Prairie Harp Circle who perform in and around Alexandria, where Pat resides.

Last week, Pat came to the Meadows to visit Ellen and had another special surprise for her mom. Pat brought along her harp so that she and Ellen could play together! What a beautiful mother-daughter moment!

Welcome to Ecumen Meadows, Carole!

Carole was born and raised in Worthington. She graduated from Worthington High School, and except for a short stint in California when she was first married, she has always lived in Worthington. She worked at Fleet and raised her four children here.

Carole is a Worthington girl through and through. As a matter of fact, when sharing her history with us, Carole happily exclaimed, "I love Worthington!" So do we, Carole, and we are honored that we now get to be part of your life story here in Worthington. Thank you for choosing Ecumen Meadows!

Transportation fundraising update:

First of all, we want to start with a huge thank you to Gloria Wieneke Carlberg. After reading about our Christmas ornament fundraiser, Gloria stopped into the Meadows and said, "We need to get you a new van. I want to help!" Gloria purchased three gorgeous quilts to raffle off and also had raffle tickets printed, so there was no expense to the Meadows. Thank you so much, Gloria!

Mike Woll of Mike Woll Investments heard about our transportation needs and came forward wanting to help us, too. He offered to match up to $10,000 of the money we raised!

We are thrilled to announce that we sold over 400 raffle tickets. Each time we promoted the quilt raffle on our page or at a public event, word spread about our need and we received several generous donations in the mail and in person for new transportation. We met Mike's challenge and received his match.

Our total raised so far is $49,174! We are so happy and thankful for all of the support and we're confident we will meet our overall goal soon!

Lastly, we held our quilt raffle drawing on Friday. Congratulations to the lucky winners: Jacki Bomgaars of Worthington and Eva Mershon of Lakeland, FL!

OOTD 🤩 Outfit of the Day (yesterday) with our beautiful Pearl!

The blouse Pearl is wearing is one she made years ago. She also sewed a skirt to wear with the blouse plus a matching shirt for her husband John!

She did all this sewing for a very special reason... to wear while square dancing! John and Pearl belonged to the Turkey Trotters square dance club for over 30 years. During that time, Pearl made many fancy, matching outfits for her and John. They surely must have stolen the spotlight on the dance floor!

Bryly, Leslie, and Claire brewed up lots of joy as they went above and beyond to transform our community into a mini Starbucks!

Residents chose their favorite from a menu of three delicious drinks. Starbucks donated the cups, lids, straws, and napkins. BAM Creations made and donated the shirts. (Along with being an incredible Resident Assistant at Ecumen Meadows, Bryly also owns her own graphic design business called BAM Creations!)

A huge thank you to our team for their creativity and compassion in making these special moments happen!

If you're in the neighborhood, stop by our south dining room and check out the decor. It's all decked out for Valentine's Day, and the best part is the nearly 70 wedding photos of our residents and team members that are on display.
All of the photos are beautiful, but we just have to share this one in particular because it has so many ties to Meadows residents, past and present!
Edwin and Norma (Sieve) Johanning are the bride and groom.
The bridesmaids (from left to right) are Edwin's cousin Doris Probst, Norma's sister Leona Lewis, and Edwin's sister LaVonne Slater. Both Doris and Leona are Meadows residents.

The groomsmen (from left to right) are Edwin's cousin Donald Johanning, Norma's Brother-in-Law Roger Lewis, and Norma's brother John Sieve. Roger is a Meadows resident, and John is a former resident.

Oh, and the photographer? That's former Ecumen Meadows resident Russell Rickers!
